Re: Post your sauce recipe!!
You can give mine a whirl! I measured everything for some cousins who wanted a literal recipe...
I made this in my 6 quart sauce pot—which is actually not that huge. It was filled to the very top though (with the meat added in), so beware, and adjust accordingly for whatever you’re cooking it in!
1 cup olive oil 4 cups minced onion 20 cloves garlic, minced 5 28-oz cans crushed tomato in thick puree 2 tsp salt 2 tsp pepper 1 tsp crushed red pepper 3 tbsp oregano 3 tbsp parsley 1 tsp sugar 1 cup grated romano cheese 1 bunch fresh basil 4 12-oz cans tomato paste
Heat oil and cook onions and garlic over medium-low heat until translucent. Lower to low heat; add crushed tomato, and all seasoning except the basil. After everything is heated through, add the tomato paste (it will stick right away, so it’s easier to let everything else heat first).
I separately browned 1 pound each of sweet sausage, spicy sausage, and pork and added to the sauce. Cook the whole pot for however many hours works for you - we stir about every 8 minutes so it doesn't stick (annoying).
I add the basil in toward the very end.
This wound up not being HOT hot, but it had a slight kick to it. It’s also a thicker sauce—I find that easier because you can freeze it in smaller quantities if you’re planning on adding water from cooking pasta to thin it and it takes up less room in the freezer in the mean time.

Re: Post your sauce recipe!!
Here Rachel~
This is the one I use...
I add sausage and meatballs during the last hour or so.
1/3 cup olive oil 3 cloves of garlic, halved 1/2 medium onion, chopped 2 28 oz cans of plum tomatoes with puree, crushed 2 basil leaves 1/2 teaspoon oregano salt and pepper to taste 1/4 cup of water 1 pound spaghetti
6. Heat olive oil in a heavy pot over medium heat. 7. Add garlic and onion and cook until onion is translucent. 8. Add tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt & pepper and water. 9. Bring to a boil then lower heat to a simmer. 10. Simmer for 45 minutes then add meatballs. 11. Continue simmering for another 1/2 hour. 12. While the sauce is cooking, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and the spaghetti. 13. Cook uncovered over high heat until Al dente. 14. Drain pasta, put back in pot add some of the sauce to the pot and mix it up. Dish out pasta spooning meatballs and remaining sauce over top.

Re: Post your sauce recipe!!
I do mine in the crockpot, I don't really have a recipe. I use 1 28 oz can of tomato sauce (I like the tuttaroso brand), 1 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes and 2 small cans (like 15 oz cans of plum tomatoes). You'll also need:
1.5 small onion - chopped 2-3 cloves of garlic - minced - you might be able to use more but dh and I don't like too much garlic italian seasoning dried basil salt & pepper 1 tbsp sugar 1 can of tomato paste
In a very large mixing bowl combine the crushed tomatoes & the tomato sauce. I process the 2 cans of plum tomatoes in a cuisinart, 1 can with it's juice, 1 drained. Then I add that to the mixing bowl. Add about half the can of tomato paste and some water, about 1/4 - 1/2 c. To the mixing bowl add the garlic, chopped onion, about a 2 teaspoons of dried basil and enough of the italian seasoning to cover the top of the contents of the mixing bowl. Add the salt and pepper (eyeball it) and the sugar. Mix that and then pour it into your slow cooker.
Here's the recipe for the meatballs - I use 1 lb of the tri-meat (a mix of beef, pork & veal). Add 1 egg, 1 small chopped onion, 1 finely chopped glove of garlic, 1/2 cup parmesan/romano cheese, 1/2 cup italian seasoned panko, and 1 tbsp milk. Mix all the ingredients and shape into balls, then bake on 350 for about 15 minutes. You don't have to bake the meatballs at all, you can throw them in the sauce the way they are but I don't like my meatballs too soft. When done, throw the meatballs into the sauce. Cook everything on low for 8 hours.

Re: Post your sauce recipe!!
I dont really have a recipe either, I kind of wing it.
First I sautee onion and garlic in some olive oil. (about 1/2 a large onion or a whole small one, and a few cloves of garlic). Then I add some basil and smoosh it around until it smells good. Then I add about 2 cans each of diced tomatoes, whole (or crushed) tomatoes, tomatoe sauce (the really thin kind) and 1 or 2 cans of tomato paste.
I bring it all to a boil. Then I let it all simmer, uncovered, for at least 3-4 hours.
** this is great to during sunday football**
Then I divide it into individual tupperware containers and freeze it. Whenever I want sauce for the night for DH and I, I just defrost one tupperware.
I always get at least 4-5 nights worth of sauce from this....IMO WAY more economical, and really much easier than buying a jar!

Re: Post your sauce recipe!!
I wing it as well to make a quick sauce....when I make the real deal I call my mom everytime bc I always forget EXACTLY what to do and never write it down
But I will say I ALWAYS use fresh parsley it makes the difference.
Also letting sausage and meatballs seap in the sauce makes the real sunday sauce (well IMO anyway)

Re: Post your sauce recipe!!
I just made a very simple one recently that my DH LOVED!
In my food processor, I chopped a whole onion and3 garlic cloves. Set aside.
Then I chopped up some parsely and a stalk of celery. Set aside.
In a sauce pan, I heated up OO on med.high heat. I added most of the onion/garlic mixture. Sauteed until translucent.
Added the celery parsley mix.
Added 1 28oz. can of tuttarosa tomato SAUCE.
Added a small can of diced tomatoes.
Stirred together.
Added a dash of salt, pepper, chopped basil.
Cooked on med. low for 1 hour.
I've made sauce many times and this was the first time he actually wanted to drink it.
