 post coital results from today
so, he saw sperm... lots of it... but they weren't necessarily swimming.. they were shaking. Dh still hasn't had his SA he will go next week.. but now my dr. says a possibility of anti-sperm antibodies. He suggested IUI. there isn't much success with these right? unmedicated? thanks!

Re: post coital results from today
That's my exact diagnosis as well, though they can't confirm whether it's just an issue of hostile mucous, or antibodies, and my RE said there's no point in testing to make that determination because the cure is the same for both - IUI.
Actually, from what I understand, if that's your ONLY issue, an unmedicated IUI has a higher success rate, upwards of 25%. I had one unmedicated IUI cycle so far, with no luck, but I have faith that it will happen within the next 2-3 months.
One of my friends, a coworker, was also diagnosed with the same problem. She conceived on her 2nd unmedicated IUI. Granted, she miscarried, but that still gives me hope.

I think you have good chances. I would also say to look up herbal remedies for poor motility-people have had amazing results-if you do a search here I am sure you will find something-it has been discussed on the board

  Not unless you use Clomid.
If it is an antibodies issue, I don't beleive there are any natural remedies. If, it's merely a hostile mucous issue, guafinesin, which is found in Mucinex or Robitussin, with Pre-Seed and evening primrose oil may help. It's definitely worth a shot just in case your issue IS hostile mucous.
Google Hostile Cervical Mucous and you'll get a LOT of information

I think the chance of having multiples is only increased a lot more, if you have a medicated IUI or IVF. Do you know the show John and Kate Plus 8??? They got pregnant with their six babies from IUI!!!!! Medicated, I'm sure!!!
When we were going to have an IUI, I was hoping for twins..
  Good Luck!

You're right but to me that sounds more like a motility issue. I'm no Dr but it couldn't hurt to have him improve his sperm quality.

Assuming the SA is normal and you have normal ovulation, you can try a few natural IUI's to try to increase your chances. GL!

Not necessarily! Both of my post-coitals showed the same thing - high counts, but his little guys were just wavering about. We did a SA to determine if it was motility, which it wasn't - his motility was excellent.
From what my RE told me, the reason why they weren't moving as well as they should have was because the mucous was acting as a barrier, and preventing them from being able to swim, so instead they just shaked, instead of swimming about.
