Re: POLL: Is it ALWAYS worth it to be the bigger person?
Thanks everyone.
I just hate how she has this whole army of people now.
Maybe I'll write her a letter....

Re: POLL: Is it ALWAYS worth it to be the bigger person?
I didn't vote b/c there have been times when i was the bigger person and times when i've shut up.
After reading your post, i think you are in the right and she is just trying to amke herself look better by saying "well, I invited HER and SHE turned me down blah, blah..."
i'd let it go, there is clearly no getting through to this chick.

I'm ususually the silent person, but each person is different, and sometimes it's good to say what you mean/feel, so you're not walking on egg shells!

Re: POLL: Is it ALWAYS worth it to be the bigger person?
I don't think that going to her party would have made you a 'bigger person'. It would have made you a doormat.. and that is not what is meant by being a 'bigger person'.
By calling this woman and giving her the benefit of an explanation as to why you do not feel she should be obliged to send you any future invitations - you were the bigger person.
At this point... let it go. She sounds poisonous and insecure. If she calls, let the machine pick up. If other people accuse you of being wrong - just let them know that there are 3 sides to every story and they don't know them all and may want to reserve judgement.
I think you handled the situation properly - and now you should continue with the grace you have shown and ignore her tantrums.

Wanna know who it was????
Remember "Jill"?
I knew it!! I tend to remember most of what I read, and it would have to be someone THAT crazy to send an invitation by registered mail.
I would not have given the explanation you did, however. No matter how even-toned and nicely worded you tried to put it, once a psychotic beyatch always a psychotic beyatch. A person like that will ALWAYS twist things around. You just can't reason with crazy people. I always try to avoid giving them any ammunition against me. (I'm very experienced with people like "Jill", unfortunately )

I voted no, you give what you get, because it seems to fit this situation.
I'm usually an advocate for being the bigger person, but there are some people who will be enabled by that generosity, and it looks like she is that kind of person.
i totally agree with this!
