POLL: do you ever leave your car unlocked?
i lock my car no matter where we are - even if it's right in front of our apartment or in my parent's driveway. i figure, better safe than sorry - and i don't even have anything valuable in my car. DH makes fun of me for it sometimes.
thoughts?

No, but DH used to be soooo bad at locking the car. I have made him go out in the middle of the night in his skivvies to check. He now locks the car.

if I am juggling a lot of bags from the grocery store, sometimes I forget to push the lock button on my keyless remote. but I would never leave it unlocked intentionally.

Who in their right mind would leave a car unlocked?
I don't care if it's in my GARAGE. It's always locked, and the alarm is armed.
People can steal a car right off your driveway! It's happenned to us!

Ok, I admit, my car is never locked in my driveway. I just like the ease of getting two kids out of the house and into the car without having to juggle for my keychain to hit the unlock button  I always lock it when we are out somewhere though.

I dont leave my car locked though once I drove a lemon and contemplated leaving it unlocked in Forest Hills so it wouldnt be my "problem" anymore. Don't worry though, I was rear ended in the lemon on the Cross Bronx Expressway in a hit and run and it was totalled.

I never lock my doors. Never even occurs to me. I don't have anything valuable in it. I figure if they want to steal it they will break the window.

if i'm out shopping or anything---no--its locked
otherwise--if i'm at work (i park right in front of my office---i can see my car all day long from the front door) -- its unlocked
and at home--unlocked--but that's really because where i live---the driveway where we park is pushed back far from the street---so i never think about it--cause you can't see the car at all from the road----and the neighborhood is rather safe.

I always lock my car
but when I lived in my parents house it was common for all of us to leave the keys in the car- even when parked on the driveway
our house was so far off the street- it didn't matter

I never do. My DH always leaves his car unlocked. The day after our wedding, we were going out to lunch and he said "uh oh we're married now I better start locking my car" (he was being sarcastic) and he locked it and locked his keys inside. We had to call roadside assistance to come and unlock it for us. It was quite funny...he went back to not locking it again. Unless I'm with him and I make him do it if I dont have my set of keys handy.

NEVER!!! If I am warming up the car in the morning, I'll leave one set of keys in the ignition and lock it with the spare. I spent too much money on my car for it to be stolen so easily.
