Poll - Do you acknowledge your parents anniversary?
My parents just had their 40th wedding anniversary and it was the first time I ever got them a card and my sister and I got them a Precious Moments statue.
I wouldn't have even remembered to do this if wasn't for my mom talking about it constantly and practically asking us for some recognition about it.
I have said "Happy Anniversary!" but that was always the extent of it.
She says Newsday always has little things for people's anniversaries.
Do you do anything for your parents on their anniversary?
That being said, my parents being together for 40 years is inspiring and so wonderful!

Re: Poll - Do you acknowledge your parents anniversary?
Yes, of course! They have been married 46 years. We always do a card and a gift certificate for dinner or get them something they want (don't need anything) for their pool or deck. For big anniversaries we do bigger things, like catered in lobster bakes, trips, etc. My Mom also likes to make a big thing out of their milestone anniversaries and they have taken us all away at times.

My parents are married for 37 years and EVERY year we (my sisters and I) MUST acknowledge their day! I get that its a special day for them, but why the kids have to buy gifts is beyond me. It should be a special day for the two of them, for them to share...I can see getting a card, but NOOOO, we MUST give a gift!!

Not every year, we only celebrate the milestone anniversaries - 25, 30, 35 etc.

Poll - Do you acknowledge your parents anniversary?
I voted no - I just wish them a happy anniversary. I guess when they are married 40 years we will have to do something more, but to date we have not.

No
I never got what the big fuss was. So you stayed married .... Awesome? Lol wasn't that the point?
If a couple wants to celebrate it, cool. But needing a big fuss from others is odd to me.

Always...from when I was a child...card ...and now I give them a card, gift and phone call. I feel its important to celebrate everything important in my parents lives as they are so awesome an I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for me and my siblings.

Poll - Do you acknowledge your parents anniversary?
Yes. We do a card and then my siblings and I go in on a gift to make it cost effective. We also threw them a surprise 25th wedding anniversary party.

Re: Poll - Do you acknowledge your parents anniversary?
We give them a card and a present. They take the family children, spouses, and grand children out for dinner to celebrate. They also celebrate ours. They give us a present, and we go out for dinner with them and my inlaws. We also give my inlaws presents and cards for their anniversary too. It is really nice.

The entire country seems to celebrate IL's anniversary. I see fireworks and parties all over the country. I'm impressed that every July 4th, everyone celebrates my IL's anniversary.....

Poll - Do you acknowledge your parents anniversary?
I always get a card for my parents. DH never did but now I make him go get a card. We never do anything big though. This year is my parents 30th so my sister and I are planning a small dinner since we were both in college for their 25 and to broke to do anything special. Other then that is normally just a card and a phone call or if it's on a weekend we go over.

Poll - Do you acknowledge your parents anniversary?
Haha. Timely question. Yes, we always *had* to celebrate their anniversary and go out to dinner with them. A couple years ago my husband and I were away over their anniversary and when my mom found out we weren't going to be here she had a fit.
And THEN!! This year, we were away again over their anniversary (in Hawaii, so a totally different time zone), and as one does when they are on vacation, I lost track of the days. I realized a day late that I missed their anniversary so I immediately sent my mom a text.
And then when it was my birthday, I decided I wanted to spend it with my husband and not my parents (I know, I have some nerve!) and so because of that and because I didn't make enough of a fuss over their anniversary, my parents didn't call me on my birthday or otherwise acknowledge it.

Re: Poll - Do you acknowledge your parents anniversary?
We just did for the first time this year when my parents had their 40th in May. We had a small party at a restaurant. Before this we never really have.
We also celebrated my grandparents 50th and 60th. But that's it as well.

Just a happy anniversary. This year was a big one 30 years, but time got away from us and we didn't get to do a party like we hoped.

Re: Poll - Do you acknowledge your parents anniversary?
Their anniversary is always around Mother's Day so I usually get a cake that says happy anniversary, but that's it. It's their day to celebrate, not mine. I wouldn't even expect anyone but DH to acknowledge our anniversary.
