PMS bloat
Does anyone else suffer from horrible bloating a few days before their period?
I can't take it.
I literally eat a few bites and feel so bloated I feel like I am going to explode. I have no appetite because everything I eat makes me feel terrible.
My pants are cutting off my circulation.
It's awful.
I have been drinking water and even the Jillian Michael Bloat tea recipe with the dandelion root tea and it's still just so awful.
I know it will pass but man, it's a bad few days. I'm just so uncomfortable.
Anyone have anything that helps?

I can easily put on 5 lbs of bloat the few days before and during my period. For me, it just has to pass. I already drink a gallon of water each day and 3/4 cups of teas so I really don't want to hydrate any more!

Omg I have the same problem. I’m seriously considering going back on the pill so I can avoid my period altogether because I can’t take it anymore. It’s not just uncomfortable it’s legitimately painful.
I find that nothing really helps. I’ll drink extra water and cut out salt but it doesn’t really do anything.

YES! And forget my boobs. They hurt worse than when I was pregnant for a FULL 2 weeks prior to my period. So painful I have to wear a sports bra to bed and around the house because the pain of not having a bra on is terrible. I get out of the shower and immediately have to put a bra on. I am constantly telling my daughter not to jump all over me and be careful because if she hits them, forget it. I see stars. It's from ovulation until I get my period.
And the bloat, like you said, is actually painful. I feel sick right now to be honest, just because I ate lunch. And it was a light lunch too.
I'd say I'm ready for menopause but I'm sure that will bring it's own host of god awful symptoms!

The process of getting to menopause is awful. I bloat worse now then when I was "regular" and on the pill. Forget about the night sweats. Thank God I haven't had bad hot flashes yet, I don't remember my mom having those. Such a tease, I didn't have my period for 6 months, then wham, it shows up again for 2 months, and now it is 2 months without. Probably show up again in June - when I am on vacation.

I feel like I am definitely in peri menopause now and that is causing these issues, yes. It's never been this bad in the past. My periods still come super regular and on time but the PMS symptoms are so much worse.

Oh don't you love this? Mine has been irregular since January. Sometimes skips a month, sometimes 2. Then it's horrible when I do get it, heavy for a straight week! And always at the WORST times

6 months was the longest without, but my body still acted like I was getting it. And yes, it always shows up at a really bad time, like when I was having double knee replacement surgery. Literally while on the table. It was bad enough dealing with all the tubes coming out of me. Thank God it was only with me for 2 days. Can't wait to be done forever.

I'm sitting here with my jeans unbuttoned. It's a great look.

PMS bloat
Yes me. Always. Even when I was in my early 20s. I am relatively thin and in shape generally and eat well. BUT whenever I “diet” and loose 5-10lbs I find I don’t get the bloat! Went to doc today and foundnin a year I gained 10lbs. Now last year I had lost some weight for the summer. Right now I am abt to start dieting to get summer ready. And that is the ONLY thing that makes me not get bloated, or huge achy boobs

So you are saying when you diet and lose weight you find you don't get the bloat and boob pain during PMS? Really?? Wow that's interesting

PMS bloat
I swear I gain like 5 pounds during PMS. I avoid salty/processed foods and eat/drink things that are diuretic and high water content like coffee and tea, watermelon, cucumber etc. Of course when I have PMS I don't want any of that sh*t.

Re: PMS bloat
for me this issue was more hormonal than anything and being low on progesterone in the last half of my cycle. I see a naturopathic dr who helped me figure this all out.
When you are low on progesterone /estrogen and everything is out of whack, you will suffer with mood swings, sore boobs, acne and all those lovely symptoms. Mostly low progesterone leads to those issues. I had terrible sore boobs. not anymore.
Do you take a daily probiotic. if not, I suggest a high grade one ( I use HMF Forte by Genestra Brands); every morning on an empty stomach before I eat or drink anything else. (So sort of how you would take an acid preventative medicine like Prevacid or Prilosec). it has helped me greatly with bloating overall.

This is very interesting. I had low progesterone when I was TTC and then needed supplemental progesterone when I eventually got pregnant. I have all the symptoms you mention above!

What does your naturopath have you do for this condition? Do you take something?

PMS bloat
I was low on progesterone when I was pregnant with my DD. I had to do a supplement for the first 6 weeks. Last year I bought a box of Pro-Gest Progesterone at I think Whole Foods. It was individual packs, and I rubbed half a pack on either my belly, inner arms, or tops of feet each day for the first half of my cycle. It definitely helped the sore boobs! But, it made my ovulation pains much worse!

Yup!
When I had an RX for it when I was pregnant, it was a suppository type thing

Re: PMS bloat
YES! The past 3 days have been hell. I gained 6lbs overnight all in bloat. Just like you said its painful! I feel like my belly is about to pop, I cant breathe, & sitting is uncomfortable. I look like a fat a$$ to boot. I ear may 1 light meal per day because theres no room.
I've tried so much but nothing works. I lost 10lbs recently. I could stand to lose 5 more, but beyond that I think I've exhausted the weight loss option. Eating light doesnt help. Drinking tons of water does nothing. Diuretics sometimes have a teeny impact but not always & never much. I give up. I just suffer & pray for it to pass now

Me neither, I was on crinone when I was pregnant.
B6 can also increase progesterone. I took boatloads of it when I was TTC.

I too take an over the counter progesterone cream, but the directions say to use from ovulation to your period, so I did not encounter any ovulation pain from it.

I have to agree with this. Since I’ve lost weight, I no longer suffer from bloating and boob pain.
However, as I’ve gotten older, I sweat at night so much before my period. So I guess the symptoms change?
