Plus size & ttc

Hi ladies - I'm just wondering if any other plus-sizers are currently trying to lose weight while ttc? If so, could you please share your plan (diet and/or exercise)? Yesterday my FIL was kind enough to give us a treadmill that he no longer uses & it's gotten me motivated...I HAVE to lose 20-30 lbs. asap!! Any tips/ideas for me while I come up with a plan of action? TIA!

Re: Plus size & ttc

I am plus size. I started drinking more water and eating less fatty sugary foods.

I walk about 2 miles in the morning after I drop my DS off at school.

We bought the WII Fit and that gives me a great work out. I use that every afternoon.

Also someone post this great site that I have been using to keep track of my calorie intake. It has help a bunch.

Excercise and Weight Watchers

Thanks! If you don't mind my asking, what's your exercise routine (specifically)?

Awesome - thank you Chat Icon I was thinking about trying to do 1-2 miles 7 days a week...hopefully that will help a lot.

We have a Wii too, so I'm dying to get the Fit - I'm happy to hear that you like it. And I'll check out that website - thanks so much! Chat Icon

Re: Plus size & ttc

I'm plus size and some days I' all about a diet and excercise and other days I'm all about being lazy. I don't usually eat junky, so that's not the problem. My daily exercise is cleaning my houseChat Icon

I've managed to maintain my weight for some time now, so I guess if I worked out for a little while each day, I could drop a few pounds.

I just lose motivation very quickly.

Here's another pretty cool site to keep your calories and excercise on track.

Fit Day

It's free to join and I find it very helpful when I'm on a diet and excercise kick, lol!

I'm with Jeri on this one...

My issue is that if i'm working out and eating well and don't see results - it all goes out the window.

I got a Wii fit - but i haven't used it yet, because i've been dealing with an upper respiratory infection since pretty much day 1 since we got it..

I am plus size also and forever trying to lose weight. I really have to get my butt in gear and start doing some exercising but until then I am just trying to eat healthy and cut out sugary foods.

I try to eat whole grains instead of simple grains--- like brown rice instead of white (though I HATE brown rice and rarely have any rice b/c of it) I try to have whole wheat bread/toast over white toast. And I try to limit my simple sugars....... HTH!
I've also started walking my dog more and will be riding my bike a lot more now that the weather is nicer.

Well right now I have no excercise routine due to going through IVF and I'm on certain excercise restrictions. But when I could excercise when I wanted to, I would do a mix of jogging and brisk walking 3 miles every other day.

And I'm with the two of you Chat Icon

I was actually doing really well with Jenny Craig, but I hit a plateau, so what did I do? I ate out of annoyance & depression and gained 30lbs. I'm such an idiot! I can't afford JC anymore (it's a "luxury" & I quit the night job that was paying for it), so I'm def going to check out some of these links & try to get used to tracking my cals on my own. Thanks for sending all the links ladies! Chat Icon

Thanks for the tip about the whole grains - I'm going to try and give that a try too Chat Icon

Re: Plus size & ttc

I am working out 3x/week for an hour. I work with a personal trainer and do a combination of cardio and a circuit routine of weight training and resistance.

I also watch what I eat. My trainer is also a nutritionist and I am following a low glycemic diet which involves really watching my sugar content. Therefore I am trying to balance my protein, fats and carbs. When I do have carbs I try to make sure they are whole grain and have a decent amount of fiber. I also keep a log of the foods I eat on a website so that I can see how many calories, how much fat, protein, etc... that I eat daily.

Re: Plus size & ttc

I joined WW the month we conceived. I've continued with weigh ins and have lost and gained, but am still down (I'm 8 weeks on Fri). I'm following the CORE plan, which I LOVE. No counting, weighing, measuring. It's just a healthier way to eat, that I'm probably going to try and follow for as long as possible.

Re: Plus size & ttc

No tips, because I cannot get motivated. I am super duper busy latey and consantly running! So it's a quick meal here, fast food there. I have gained and lost 60 3 times in the last 8 years. But now I am at the heaviest I have ever been, so I try, but I know I could do better.
My advice is 5 small meals a day, good food choices and get a bit of excercise, Want to lose more, less fat and bad carbs, more excercise. I know how to do it, but I just can't do it lately. Good Luck, hope you have better than I have been having!
