Please be honest...

OK, so I started my registry on BRU. I sent the link to my friend who asked for it. No biggie, she calls me and tells me I should remove the "No Characters please" in the Room decor spot. I wrote that because I honestly don't like ANY of the characters out there, ie: pooh, elmo any other ones. So is it rude that I put it? I mean, BRU return policy stinks, you now need a gift receipt for a return. I figure its better to have it on there then be stuck with something I cant return. Thoughts.

Yeah, its fine. I asked people not to give me anything with characters on it also (like winnie the poo, disney etc) and no one did. Leave it, people would rather get you something that you would like, imo, than get something that you want to return.

I think it's fine, honestly! Leave it. Why get something you can't return and won't use?

Nothing wrong w/ that. After all, that is what a registry is for, to allow people to see what you want.....

I think it's fine and I would definitely leave it.
When, I register I am going to let everyone know to please put gift receipt with gift.
I'm sorry, BRU has a new policy... why should I suffer if I have to return something.

When you set it up, there is a spot to put the "Room Decor" I just put it there.

I personally do think it is rude but to each is own. I would just leave it blank and then return it later if you get anything with characters. I didn't get one thing with characters on it and I never wrote it anywhere.

Re: Please be honest...

I dont think it is rude at all. I have "already chosen" under room decor. Your taste is your taste. If it weren't there wouldnt be registries and people would end up with boat loads of gifts they will never use.

Oh and attention world (especially Reese1106), if you buy my daughter anything that resembles a "sailor suit" it WILL BE RETURNED EXPEDITIOUSLY. I hate hate hate hate sailor suits.

OMG I always say this.

My mom and aunt used to buy me and my brother outfits like this. My Kindergarten picture I had an outfit on like this. It annoys me to no end and even as a child, I didn't like it. My late grandmother (love and miss her!) also liked the sailor suit type of outfit, even for herself!

So I recently told my DH that if they think my future ds/dd would wear anything like that, they are sadly mistaken. It will go right in the donations box. I don't care if it seems rude to toss it or tell them to return it. I don't think it's cute at ALL and my child will never wear one.

Re: Please be honest...

No, it is your registry. You can absolutely put down anything you want. I would, however, clarify what you mean. I don't think I would understand what you meant (I can be pretty dense at times Chat Icon Chat Icon ) by no "characters".

I don't like character stuff either, I would do the same thing. I don't think its rude at all. Making a registry is to let people know what you want. Why would someone want to buy you something you don't like.

Oh and for the record, I don't like sailor suits either.

Re: Please be honest...

I'm confused.

If you register for room decor...why would it be necessary to include "no characters". I mean, don't you register for bedding, lamp, nightlite etc....and if you picked out a theme that doesn't have characters then why would you have to write that??

I didn't write anything like that and no one got him anything outside of what I registered for. I mean a few people did their own gifts but I didn't mind...

Edited to add....I don't necessarily think its rude...but i couldn't put notes on my registry as to what i don't want. I would feel uncomfortable doing that. But that is just me. If I got something I didn't like or didn't want, it got returned.

I would've done the same thing as you. If you don't like characters it's okay to write that. Better that everyone know and get you something you want and would like rather than having to open up 8 Winnie the Pooh's that day and have to fake interest and then return them. I wrote on my registry to keep everything neutral because I didn't want everything pink or blue. I would leave what you wrote. Chat Icon
