Planned C section-Medical Reason for sched or NO? DEF TMI inside

Did you sched your C section cause of a medical reason?

I have an existing condition, 2 anal fissures, caused by my DD's birth that are soo painful and they aren't healed yet and are exaberated by pg hormones. The only way i can treat them 1st cause of bf'ing, then with this pg, was with diet, fiber and stool softeners everyday to minimize the pain and bleeding.

I've been told i can't do anything further until i am no longer pg.

When #2 comes it will 14 months of living with this pain everyday.

A vaginal delivery will only make everything 50x worse and set me back a year.

Do you think a doc would sched a c cause of it?

What med reason, if you don't mind sharing, they scheduled your c for?

Thank youChat Icon
(baby is still breech right now too.)

I would think that would be a good medical reason. Sorry you are in pain.

At 37 weeks it was decided that due to the placement of my pelvic bone and the size of my baby (8 pounds) there was NO way I could deliver her vaginally. They gave me 5% odds. I was scheduled 4 days later.

I don't know, but to me that sounds like a good medical reason. Have you talked to your doctor about it??

Re: Planned C section-Medical Reason for sched or NO? DEF TMI inside

I thought it would be a good reason, everyone around me keeps telling me I don't want a c section and that the second time around i won't be pushing so long, BUT WHAT IF I DO PUSH FOR A long time?

I am scared to death of pushing, totally not scared at all about anything else. Pushing for 2 hours is what did it to me in the 1st place.

I go to the doc on Tuesday, I really feel silly asking him, but i guess i really should to do what's best for me..right?

Re: Planned C section-Medical Reason for sched or NO? DEF TMI inside

Absolutely, you need to do whats best for you - who's to say that this will be an easier delivery. - I would think any type of pushing would exagerate the area and be harder on you in the long run.

I wouldn't wish a c-section on anyone - (having been thru both - vag was an easier recovery. IMO!) But for alot of people - this is the way to go. I had to have one with my second twin pg cuz the babies weren't in the right position, transverse and breech, so I didn't have a choice.

I would talk to your doctor and see what he says. Chat Icon

I had a c-section and when I saw my OBGYN we talked about the next time around. She told me that anyone can request a c-section, and she'd actually support me having one next time.

DW's water broke, so there was no waiting, and DS was transverse(sideways). Dr. said if she pushed, she might break his neck..... Chat Icon easy decision. DD was breach, and with a prior C, they figured it was safer.

I think that's a valid reason--have you spoken with your doctor about it?

My c/s is scheduled because it will be a repeat c (if I don't go into labor first--then VBAC, fingers crossed).

I hope your little one stays breech, that way the decision is out of your hands--easy!

No advice but OMG I am so sorry that you still have your fissures. I want to cry for you. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Will you be able to have surgery after the next baby?

ETA: I did not push for very long with DD and you know I had fissures too. While I personally would probably not choose a c section I think it's a valid reason. I am dealthy afraid of c section so that's my reason but if you're OK with it definitely talk with your doc.
I don't think until someone has a fissure they can even begin to understand the pain you are talking about. I am still not quite right.

first off Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon to you. and secondly. i had a csection with #1 due to her being breech and over 9 lbs, i would never have been able to give birth vaginally. then with #2 it was planned due to a possible uterine rupture.

I had a scheduled c-section because DD was breach. It was very nice- I had an easy recovery and was back to myself in 3 weeks.

I think your medical condition definitely warrants it. Why wouldn't you have a scheduled c-section?

I have had fissures too (I can not believe you are still suffering from them! My heart is crying for your tushy!!!) and the biggest problem for me wasn't the pushing, it was the being in the hospital for 5 fricking days trying every laxative in the book and not having a poo for a week!!!

I think you shouls speak to your doctor and ask about the c-section, if not for your own peace of mind!!! You poor thing. Fissures are completely debilitating...it feels like all your internal organs are pressing on your backside while razor blades are slicing you from the inside out...and thats for THE WHOLE DAY EVERY DAY!

You poor baby!!!

So i guess I really can't blame it on pushing for 2 hours anymore :) i am glad monkeybride and racheee replied since you guys know how these things feel and have been in my shoes.

My issue is that I BF'd, and i couldn't do the cream, only diet, then i only had a 1 month and 1/2 in between stopping bf'ing and getting pg again. So the hormones have been doing a doozy on me. The damn thing actually started to heal a little for that time i wasn't pg or bf'ing.

I have gone to my surgeon, and can't do the cream while pg nor the surgery yet.

I am def going back after this kid is born to do SOMETHING. These are wayy chronic now, I don't even think the cream will work, i may have to go right to surgery and I really don't want that. I really want to give my body a chance to heal without tearing them as open as the panama canal from pushing from a v birth. As that would put me wayyyyy in much more pain. At least right now i can walk around and sit 95% of the time without pain.

I don't wish these things on my worst enemy. I really wish they warned me about these things in any book i read or class i took.

The saddest part is that i want to bf'd again, but I need to take care of this and me first this time and that breaks my heart and fills it with guilt.

I am def going to ask my doc, I just didn't want him to look at me like a big baby and like I had 3 heads, I guess I needed some encouragement from you ladies.

Thanks for listening

Is it a definite that you can't use the cream or do the surgery while BFing? I'm not sure which cream they use for this since I never got that far. Did you ask the ped or OB if there is any chance the cream of anesthesia and surgery would only be a temporary setback in BFing?

Based on what you said I would speak to your doc and seriously consider a c-section. W/ a c-section there is a few more weeks of recovery involved but you said a tough vag delivery could set you back a year! That alone would be enough for me to seriously consider the c-section.

Having gone through a c-section, it's not that bad it just takes time to recover. Afterall it's major surgery.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Re: Planned C section-Medical Reason for sched or NO? DEF TMI inside

I so feel for you and was thinking of you the other day.

I am now getting constipated from the Zofran pump Im on and I freak out every day from all the pushing that I will get another fissure.

I cant imagine HOW you are dealing with it pregnant.

I would 100% speak to your OB about the c -section.

My anal and rectal surgeon did mention a c section to me before my fissure surgery and sometimes I get scared of labor too, and mine is gone, I would be thinking about it 24-7 if I were you.

I wish I had more advice, but my next advice, GET THE SURGERY after the babies here and BF is done. It was soooo worth it. I thank god every day. Yes it was unpleasant for a little bit afterwards but to not have that intense horrifying fear and pain is soo worth it. And after all yoru suffering, I think it will be worth it.

FM me if you need to vent or talk it out anymore ok? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA- People undergo surgery while PG, you could have it done while BF if you were able tp pump enough to make it through say the first 2 days when you will need pain killers...the anesthesia should be ok.

The cream is nitroglycerin. My doc said it could raise my blood pressure and the baby's and they don't want to chance it. So that's out while pg, and BF'ing he told me it could pass into BM and it would be my choice, I opted not to do it last year after DD's birth, i hate putting/taking meds let alone the though of it passing into my babies food. I kinda chickened out of the surgery last year, now i regret it.

I noticed after I stopped Bf'ing, is when i had the most dramatic healing within a month or so. My doc and I are convinced the pg/bf'ing hormones are creating a sensitivity and a delay in healing since estrogen messes with your digestive system so much. So that's where my guilt lies.

Basically my surgeon didn't want to see me until i have the baby.

Thank you so much DonnaChat Icon

I will def be Fm'ing you as it gets closer for advice and support.

PG hormones are causing constipation for me too no matter how much fiber, water i drink. I don't take a reg prenatal cause that was making it worse-Flintstones for me! I get so nervous cause as you know all it takes is one time to open it again.

I am such a chicken when it comes to surgery, i just want my body to heal itself and not have any intervvention, but i guess that's not happening. I got my tonsils out when i was 24 and cried my eyes out like a 5 year old the whole time before and walking into the OR.

This really stinks cause my recovery from everything else from my v delivery was cake, my epiosotomy hurt wayyyyy less that my butt!

Well my docs appt is Tuesday afternoon.

I'll stop rambling nowChat Icon Now that you all know the inner workings of me

I defintiely think you have grounds for a C-section. A friend of mine had one with no reason.
