*PitterPatter11's IVF Journal* - Update 7/19

So, I have decided to post an IVF Journal to help me keep track of things this cycle.

Here is our background:

We are dealing with MFI due to chemotherapy treatment. We had started to TTC naturally in August 2010. We began seeing a RE in August 2011. Once we got insurance figured out, we did IVF #1 in March/April 2012. For Round 1, we had to use frozen sperm and ICSI. We did a 5dt using 2 poor quality embryos Chat Icon Now my DH is taking a daily vitamin and selenium - we will see if this helps.

6/23 -7/4

Start taking 10 cc of Lupron
This time no side effects. Last time, I had loopiness and night sweats.

7/1 - AF is here

7/2 - Baseline Appointment - Blood work and Ultrasound - All looks good

7/5 - Start stims
150 iu Gonal F
75 iu Menopur
5 units Lupron

7/9 - First Monitoring Day

5-6 follicles on each ovary, all measuring <10mm
Estrogen at 192, which is lower than it was at this point last cycle - so I am happy about that.

New protocol:
75 iu Gonal F
75 iu Menopur
5 units Lupron

7/11 - Second Monitoring Day

8-10 follicles on each side - most measuring between 10 and 12mm. Estrogen is at 504 (which is much lower than my last day 7 - 1038).

I am continuing with the same protocol:
75 iu Gonal F
75 iu Menopur
5 units Lupron

7/13 - Third Monitoring Day

8-10 follicles on each side - most measuring 12 - 15mm. Estrogen is at 1672 (which once again is much lower than my last day 9 - 3791)
My lining is 10.6.

I am continuing with the same protocol:
75 iu Gonal F
75 iu Menopur
5 units Lupron

ER will be Wednesday.

7/16 - Fourth Monitoring Appointment - Trigger Day!

14-16 follicles total - most measuring 18 - 21 mm. Estrogen is at 4500 (which is about 1000 less than my final E2 last time - so I am excited, but still nervous that the level is so high).

My lining is still 10.6.

The nurse said everything looked beautiful - so fingers crossed that we make some good embryos this time - that is the part I am most worried about....

This cycle we have told a lot more people so I am hoping all their good vibes and your good vibes will help us out.

Trigger tonight at 8 pm. ER is on Wednesday at 8 am - thank goodness because I am getting so uncomfortable! My ovaries are HUGE!

7/18 - Egg Retrieval

They retrieved 22 eggs, which is way more than I thought they were going to get.

Felt a little nauseous afterwards, but I am starting to feel better now. Looks like I will be on Dostinex and Lovenox again for potential OHSS. Apparently, my E2 levels are right at the cusp and since I had so many follicles, they figured better to be safe than sorry. I hate Lovenox!

7/19 - Fertilization Report

Yesterday, they were able to retrieve 22 eggs; 19 of which were mature. As of right now, 13 fertilized with ICSI and 5 more have the potential for fertilization (not 100% what that means).

The nurse I spoke to had me down for a 5dt, but I explained to her that I had spoken to the RE and we had agreed upon a 3dt since the quality last time was not that great. She seemed resistant at first since we had "so many embryos", but obviously changed it. I wonder why they do not make note of this in my file. I have spoken to the RE and numerous nurses about this.

So, Saturday at 9 am, we are having our ET followed by acupuncture. It is also our 5th wedding anniversary, so I hope this is the good luck that we need.

7/22

Yesterday, we had a 3dt and put back 3 embryos. Our RE does not give you the official rating, but 2 appeared to be good quality and one was fair quality. I had acupuncture directly following the transfer. The RE said to call back on Tuesday or Wednesday to see if they could freeze any - looking at the quality of the ones transferred though I am not too optimistic about being able to save any for a FET. Hopefully, one of them in me sticks. Chat Icon

Also - once again valium knocked me out. Fell asleep during acupuncture and then came home and slept for 2+ hours.
