come on now, these are the best pics the REA could get of this house? does the nasty pile of laundry & all the crappola in the garage come with the house?
Its probably a rental, but still.

That house needs to be gutted. Probably about 200K worth of improvements are needed.

This does look bad. Believe it or not, we looked at a house that was similar to this (different house, different area). You had to hop over the piles of dirty laundry to get into the basement, there were bras hanging on doorknobs, sunglasses in the sink, it was crazy.

We actually liked the place and considered making an offer--once you cleared the mess away, it would have been a great house. But we chose another house in a location we liked better.

Re: pig pen

Chat Icon that is bad. At least with the house we are buying the REA was smart and made sure to take the best pictures possible for MLSI. The kitchen & new bathroom were the only rooms on the site. They cleaned the those two rooms for the pics but when we went to see it, Chat Icon were we disappointed. We thought it was going to be a really nice house. It is amazing how people live. When the bank appraisal was done this is what the bathroom looked like.

Take a good look at the counter, yes it's a beer bottle. Classy!!!Chat Icon

Not like they didn't know the appraiser was coming that day. Boy do we have a lot of cleaning to do Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: pig pen

Maybe its because I saw so many disgusting houses for more than that, i don't think its that bad for that price in that area. Yes its a mess but you have to learn to look past that. Thats a great price and with 40-50K you could probably do some great improvements if you did the work yourself... And 340K is not bad when you put the numbers together.

Whoever took those pictures is a moron. No, wait. Whoever decided to POST those pics as part of the house on MLS is a moron. There's nothing that says "you must post every pic you took no matter how horrible it makes the house look". Chat Icon

I'm not saying the price is bad or that it wouldn't be a nice house with some effort, I'm just in shock that a real estate agency feels good about putting their name on that listing.
I would tell the sellers straight out "hire a home stager or I'm not listing it"

Unfortuantely you can't force people to spend money on a home stager OR to clean up their house. You can suggest all you want but that doesn't mean they are going to do it.
