I went to a Southern Living at Home party a few years back. It was home decor/housewares items all $$$, but very nice and a terrific quality. It was different enough and I would gladly go to another one.

I like Pampered Chef as well and actually use most of the stuff I've purchased over the years. Best kitchen shears everChat Icon

Re: "parties"

Sex toy was a lot of fun, but expensive and I don't know if I would order anything else that I don't already have.

I went to a bachelorette party where they hired a chef to come in. The chef had several recipes picked out and had the groceries ready for us to prepare the food. It was so much fun organizing together and prepping. Tons of wine was drank. She then cooked it all up and served us dinner and dessert. It was a TON of fun.

I hate candlev jewelry and pocket book parties because I'm just not going to use or wear the stuff.

Ijust went to a flip flop party. They had all flip flops out on display and you can buy them right there. A little pricey, but they were cool.

I just feel they are overpriced and usually I struggle justifying the price for a piece I really don't "love"....

In general I'm not a big fan of costume jewelry for myself unless its something very very unique....Some people love them though !

Guess food and $ex parties are more up my alley Chat Icon

My BFF was a Lia Sophia rep so of course I got roped into having a party where she booked a few parties off of so I have a ton of Lia Sophia jewelry and, IMO, it's crap. Most of it has fallen apart or broken. I know they have the policy that you can return it but I can't be bothered with the hassle.

I love Tastefully Simple parties and wine partiess. Fun. I also heard that Dove does chocolate parties which sounds good to me!

I think the best ones are the sex toy parties because you just laugh an have a good time. But the products are seriously overpriced for the quality. The next best ones are Pampered Chef parties because I love their products.

Oh that's great to know! Thanks! I hope my friend's sister hosts one again.

I've never been to tastefully simple, but would like to try that one. I recieved a beer bread mix as a gift that was really tasty.

Not a Lia Sophia fan here either. It's was $$$ for not so great quality and nothing you can't get elsewhere for less $$.

This! I live in the city and have never been to these types of gatherings. To me "party" means family, friends, drinks, eating and chatting. No selling.

Re: "parties"

My neighbor has "Open House" parties because she designs and manufactures handbags/purses which are sold in boutiques in town/neighboring towns, but she also has all the other women that she's friends with come and sell their items/lines either from their own company or the companies they rep (Tastefully Simple, Lia Sophia).

I hate to say it, but I only go and purchases things because I feel obligated, otherwise I have not interest in that stuff. All of it is totally overpriced, especially the jewelry.

Ditto. I HATE these kind of parties and always feel obilgated to buy something that is WAY overpriced.
I have just stopped attending them all together.
If I need something, I will go out and buy it in a store.
I'm not waiting for some "party"

Re: "parties"

The only reason I got into this was to force dh to have to watch kids 2 nights a week. He was going on a biking trip and asked if i could watch his friend's 3 month old while they were gone.
I flipped.

Perfect storm of jewelry party that night-I knew if I had to go to "work" then he would have to leave his job on time and put kids to bed.

I have to say, I don't hate itChat Icon I don't care though if people buy or not...I am out and having fun. I do book a lot of parties though...going to a stranger's house tonight to throw one. I just lay it out, do a quick chat-like 15 mins-and then hang out while people put orders in and book shows.

Worked 2 nights last week...one night made 200.00, the other night made 75. For being out with the girls...I don't even care that I don't know themChat Icon

Older women buy a lot...younger host shows to set off price of stuff they want.

I don't know how long I will do it. Def until I pay off the initial investment...but even after this is all done...then i do have a ton of jewelry...i am up to like 2k worth...so it was good because i did not have anything before hand.

When I am tired of this, I def want to get into something else...not sex toys though-that presentation bores me and lasts forever. I am such a minimalist...I don't want any kitchen things...I have to find something I need
