Pardon my ignorance, but..
What happens now at regular monthly dr. appointments?
Do I get an exam each time, or do I just pee in a cup, get weighed, hear the heartbeat and go on my way?
I know I won't get a sono as my doctor doesn't do them in the office and my insurance only covers 2 duriing my pregnancy.
I have my 14 week appointment tonight and just wondering what to expect.

pee in a cup, get weighed, hear the heartbeat, talk to the Dr for a few and go on your way
You may have blood work done at 18ish weeks for the triple screen.

This is pretty much what happens from here on out. I ask questions, get weighed, bp checked, urine, get test results, listen to suggestions, etc.

Re: Pardon my ignorance, but..
since 12 weeks, my appointments have gone as follows:
pee in a cup
step on the scale (try not to faint)
nurse takes BP and listens for baby's HB with the doppler
doctor comes in, starts to listen for baby's HB, i tell her that the nurse did it already
she asks me if i have any questions or problems, i tell her if i do or don't, and i am on my merry way.
ETA:
at 16 weeks they drew blood for the AFP
at 24 weeks i got my script to do my one-hour glucose test
at 30 weeks i had a growth sono
i just had my 36 week appointment last night, it was pretty much the same, except i got the strep B test and an internal - which was very quick.

that's what i did at every appointment--just pee, weigh, heartbeat and asking the doctor any questions. it's annoying that you sometimes have to wait a little bit for a 2 minute appointment.
i started getting sonograms at every appointment at around 28/30 weeks (don't remember) but that's what my doctor does--it definitely isn't the norm. i don't know anyone else who had that.

Re: Pardon my ignorance, but..
Thanks everyone.. that's what I figured!
I actually have a nice long list of questions for my Doc tonight! We'll probably also go over my ultrascreen results as well.

Re: Pardon my ignorance, but..
I'm 24 weeks and so far at each of my monthly appts, I pee in a cup, get weighed, blood pressure check, chat with the doctor for a little and usually a sonogram, then we are on our way

Re: Pardon my ignorance, but..
Im sorry but I just CANNOT pardon your ignorance. You ask so much of me already and THAT is the last straw!!!
(But seriously, they make you pee, they weigh you, check the heartbeat, and on occasion, do a sonogram)
I stopped asking for sonograms and yesterday, when the doc told me Ed-lie's heartbeat was perfect, I did not even ask what it was. I figure it is one less thing for me to obsess over and I could go on my way.

Actually what's really nice about my Dr. is she will take all the time you need with her, and will never rush you through your questions. Which is probably why she told me to always call ahead to find out just how far behind she is running.
