Painting Garage floor
Hi,
We would like to paint our garage floor soon.
Would anyone have experiance with this and know when is the best time/temperature?
Its spring, but the ground/concreate still feels so cold, I was thinking it should be at least in the 70's?
I planned to pressure wash and scrub with cleaner all the grease spots. let dry for a day and then paint.
Thanks

Re: Painting Garage floor
I think they make special epoxy paints specifically designed for garage floors. Check into those - I think they resist oil and clean easily. They would list the prep needed and optimal temps for painting.

I'm planning on using this stuff from Rust-Oleum
HomeDepot has it, but if you order it from them directly, you can pick from 30+ colors.

This is what we are doing in our garage. It's better than the HD stuff. My DH is restoring a classic truck in there so we need something good..

Re: Painting Garage floor
You need epoxy paint. It's more durable. Ideally you want to paint when the temperature is 55+ If the weather is damp, it will take longer to dry.
You need to prep your floor with cleaner. Most paint brands have their own floor cleaners. You might need the same brand primer too. Depends on the brands.

How easy is this to do, do you think?
DH has been wanting to do this FOREVER, and I think I'd like to surprise him with the materials for Father's Day. It looks like the type of thing that's easy to mess up...

This pic I think is the two-part version. For my basement, I'm planning on using the one-part version. Not quite as tough, but I think it's easier to work with. From what I've read, it's just like painting, so it shouldn't be that hard. I think the hardest part will be cleaning the floor...
