DH and I tried staining one of the cabinets in our bathrooms - it's like our kitchen cabinet but under the sink/vanity...

We stripped, sanded, stained...didn't like the results (wasn't rich enough) so we re-sanded with stronger sandpaper and re-stained. My parents who re-finish EVERYTHING told us how to do it but I don't think staining is in my genes b/c we weren't happy with the results either time - and we followed my parents directions to the T...and my parents do amazing things with old furniture and stain...

So we decided that the staining thing is not for us and we are going to try painting the cabinet (with a sprayer) as a last resort...

Has anyone done this? How do I prep the cabinet? Do I need to re-sand? Should we prime? What brand of paint is good? Are there special paints for wood?
