Paint Brand
What do you recommend for a paint brand? I was all about using BM paint picked out ALL my paints and then was told that it cost to much money that I should just go to home depot and they will match my colors up.
I feel like I am going with BM but I want your thoughts????

Re: Paint Brand
I have always used BM paints, as well as my family members! I feel like you get what you pay for in the end. If you want get them matched go ahead, it may never be the same exact color.

Re: Paint Brand
We will only use BM in our house. DH refuses to paint with anything else. The handling, wear and coverage is worth the extra $$ to us.

Re: Paint Brand
My painter only uses BM, but there were some colors our designer wanted to use that were Pratt and Lambert and Ralph Lauren And they were really good.

Re: Paint Brand
We are using http://www.mythicpaint.com/
For me, the health aspects far outweighed anything else. BM off-gasses way too many poisonous chemicals for me to be comfortable with. Even their "low VOC" paint.... I think they are coming out with a no-VOC paint in another year or so, but I can't wait that long.
So far, only the primer and ceiling paint is up, but the professional painter is happy with the coverage and usability of it so far. It has NO smell whatsoever, and no off-gassing.
They have their own color swatches, but will also color-match any manufacturer, so you can still get all the BM colors.
It IS $$, so if cost is an issue, this may not be the route for you. Everything is a matter of compromises. For me, the VOCs for DC's bedrooms and the rest of the house outweighed the additional cost.

Re: Paint Brand
We repainted every room in our house (literally) last year. For two rooms, we used HD brand paint and for the rest of the rooms, we used BM. I wouldn't use the HD stuff again -- I honestly see a big difference in the quality. For us, it was worth the money.

Re: Paint Brand
We tried pretty much all brands of paint and our favorite by far is sherwin-williams.
We just used their new no-voc paint to paint the nursery and it came out great. SW has a lot of sales, you can also get on their mailing list to find out about deals.

Re: Paint Brand
i just did my dining room, kitchen, hallway and bathroom and used Behr's. before i could paint i had to strip down wallpaper, spackle and sand the walls. i thought i would have to use more than one coat, but, didn't. i've used Behr's in the past and find it the best paint for the money. no complaints here.

I love Benjamin Moore and Valspar equally. We haven't tried any others.

Re: Paint Brand
In my parents house, no matter how poor we were - we used BM paints. That's why they only painted twice in 30 yrs.
We would have used BM paints but we were able to get a discount at Sherwin Williams so we went with that.
I heard (from painters) that SW Cashmere paint is as good as BM. Don't know the price diff though.

I really like Sherwin Williams too. We've used Behr in the past and we always needed to do 2+ coats to get the color that we wanted. With SW, we only needed to do one.

Re: Paint Brand
I forgot to add that we've used Behrs and had to use several coats as well as PP stated and wasted time and money.
