Pack rat foodies?
Okay do I have a problem.
I go food shopping every day.
I am at a supermarket or vegatable store every day
Today I decided this week I am going to TRY to cook only what I have.
I have chicken burgers, turkey sausage, shrimp, chcken cutlets, chopped meat etc in the freezer PLUS tons of canned and frozen veggies, plus either rice, potatoes etc.
Let's see how it goes...so far I need to stop and buy milk other than that I am on a mission to use all this food I already have in my house.
Anyone OVER shop for food?

Re: Pack rat foodies?
I know where you are coming from. I can't say that I am a "pack rat" but I do buy fresh and forget about frozen or canned items. I will see a recipe and want to make that and then... there goes using stuff in the pantry. Finally I decided to NOT shop for 3 weeks! I defrosted meats, used pasta and canned goods in the freezer. I ONLY bought the salad items and milk / eggs for the week.

Re: Pack rat foodies?
Since DH was not working I turned into someone who uses everything.
I only shop once a week now and it's a small order with fresh stuff and only what we need.
I used to overshop and I love to cook so it fed my soul.
We are still in austerity mode and will be for the next few months while we catch up.
We thought nothing of buying expensive fish and expensive cuts of meat but now I look for all of the sales and coupons and go with the lower priced stuff.
So to answer your question, I like to do it, but haven't and won't for a while longer.

I used to be that way. Now I stock up on staples so that I only have to shop for the fresh stuff and buy meats if the sale price is good.
Periodically I go thru a "cleaning out the pantry and freezer" binge, where I cook what I have then shop and replenish.

Re: Pack rat foodies?
DH and I only shop once a week. There are times where I will pick something up and we end up not cooking it and it may get tossed. But lately we have been good with cooking things the week we buy them. Or if we dont end up cooking it and its chicken we will put it in the freezer until we are ready to make it as a meal.

I try not to be! Every time I run in for one or 2 things I get so many extras... I try to do those cheap cheap trips like the coupon bloggers do, but I always fail

Re: Pack rat foodies?
I was good last week! No supermaket trips but I did go to the vegable store bc I made a cobb salad one night and needed fresh salad and of course I got some other stuff not too much though! I am trying to do it again this week--yes we have THAT much meat in our freezer
Tomorrow I do need to pick up some veggies though.
