Being a pack rat finally pays off **attention VW Passat owners**

We started having a lot of problems with our 2004 VW Passat, specifically dealing with ignition coils, and replaced all 4 of them.

We knew we wanted a larger vehicle for the dogs so we traded in our VW and got a Honda CR-V.

After trading it in, I found the service manual, extra keys, etc. and got rid of them. However, I held on to all the paperwork. Years of service bills, original purchase paperwork, all of it. I figured I'd give it a year.

Today I opened a piece of mail from VW, thinking I'd have to tell them I no longer own the car. It was paperwork telling me that the ignition coil problem was widespread and that it was a mandatory fix that I could have them replace for free. Won't do me much good now, right?

There's also a form to get reimbursement for anyone who previously replaced them!! Obviously, you need proof that you paid for them. Which I still have, because I never threw anything away. Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon That's so great that you kept all the paperwork.

Just wanted to add that the same is true for VW Jettas made during certain years. I had all my engine coils replaced on my Jetta about three years ago because of the same problem.
