How do the ovulation kits work? Where can I get one? How long do they last? How much? Any info would be greatly appreciated

Re: Ovulation Kit
Ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) detect a surge in LH (lutenizing hormone) which happens usually about 12-24 hours before you ovulate. They look just like a home pregnancy test (HPT), but detect a different hormone. You can buy them in your drugstore where the HPTs are kept, or you can get them online (I forget the site that a lot of women here use). I've been using Rite Aid brand, which comes 7 to a box, and is around $15.
If you have an idea of when you ovulate each cycle, start testing 3-4 days beforehand (so you don't miss it). As an example, I usually O around CD17 every month. So, I usually start testing around CD13. There's a great book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" that outlines everything in greater detail. It's worth the money, in my opinion, and answers so many questions.
HTH!
