Ovulating after BCP

If you stop taking your pack when you get your last period technically on the pill, would you ovulate right after-- or would you need to wait a full cycle and get another period to normally ovulate?

Just wondering when we can start. I have a pack and a half left.

Re: Ovulating after BCP

Depends, my doc told me about a month to be fertile again, but I think it took 2 months. Others claimed it took longer.

Re: Ovulating after BCP

I was lucky and ovulated 12 days after coming off BCP. My cycle regulated itself right away, but I heard it can take a couple of months for your body to get back on track. I found the OPKs to be great in letting me know what kind of schedule my body was on.

Re: Ovulating after BCP

I came off the pill & my body has been ovulating but I can't say I have truly regulated yet. I think this is the first month that I might actually be regulated bc it seems everything is going as planned for a 30 day cycle

You can start trying immediately after coming off the pill, there just may be some trouble coming up with an exact due date (but they can do early ultrasounds to get a good estimate).

Re: Ovulating after BCP

i agree with the OPs about how your body takes time to regulate after coming off BCP. i ovulated the first month after coming off the pill, but not until CD25. i think the first few months can be hard to predict when you will O. if you temp or use OPK right away, you will have a better chance of timing things.

Re: Ovulating after BCP

Thanks for your responses. I went off the pill last year for about 7 months and the only normal cycle I had, was with my first period off the pill.

So, I thought, maybe try immediately, because who knows when the next opportunity will be. I was very irrregular the last time off of BCP, so it will be very hard to track.
