This is pretty much why i've stopped shopping at Victoria's Secret. From the moment you walk in the store people are hovering around you. The best was the time some 18 year old male employee asked if I needed help with bra sizing! Hell no thank you!

I used to work in retail and we had three "must do's" for every customer....
1. Stand up and greet every person that walked in the store.
2. if on the phone, get off
3. Ask THREE open ended questions.
If you were secret shopped and failed to do your "must do's" it was grounds for termination.
Typically my interactions would be this....
Me: Hi Welcome
Customer: I'm just looking
Me: That is great...what are you looking for today.
Customer: Nothing...I'm JUST looking
Me: I have those kinds of days too, but what brought you to the mall today?
Customer: Just to LOOK...
Me: We just got a new item in stock why dont you come take a look at it and tell me what you think....
This was usually enough to get the "customer" to leave the store screaming
