outside party- wording question
we're having a block party, and last year we had issues with people hanging out in the house and not staying outside. I don't want everyone hanging out in the house, so how can i word something to put on the door that basically says "stay the f*&^*^ out unless you're using my bathroom" ??

Re: outside party- wording question
Turn off the a/c inside :) I don't think there is anyway to politely say it.

I am taking it has she invites people (friends and family) over to the block party and instead of hanging outside where the block party is they are gong in the house and haning out there.
I find it weird people would do this I assume both you and your DH are outside. I would leave all lights and air off so people may get the hint or I would put a sign up that says we appreciate if you do not stay in the house unless using the bathroom

Who goes to a block party and hangs out in the house? So weird. The whole point is to be outside.

well she technically didn't invite them to her house but to a block party.
I never attended a block party and hung out inside the persons house.
We are outside hanging out the whole time and going up and and down the block if they are having different activities.

right, I would normally hang out outside at a block party too but you can't invite people over and tell them they can't go in your house. come on, how tacky is that.

Did you have everything set up outside? Tables, chairs, food, drinks. I've never been to a block party where people stayed inside.

outside party- wording question
I have been to a ton of block parties and never saw or had people stay in the house. Do you have enough seating outside? Set up a tent and get tables and chairs. Is your food set up outside? If you have a garage, open it up and set up some chairs in there. The only time we ever had people inside was if they were elderly and couldn't take the heat.

Re: outside party- wording question
Pray for rain that day?
I mean these are friends or family members that you're inviting over, right? So you should be okay with them hanging in the A/C should they need to cool off a bit.
Keep everything outside so people are more apt to stay out there (beer in a cooler, not the fridge/bowls of chips outside on the table/wine in a bucket of ice, etc etc) and unplug the television lol...that's the only thing I could think of to encourage people to keep the party outside.

My friends would actually rent a port a potty and refused to let anyone in the house for any reason. You can do that.

Post a very large note on colorful oak tag stating just what you said.
TO ALL; ONLY ENTER TO USE THE BATHROOM, ONCE THE DEED IS DONE EXIT THE HOUSE. AGAIN, TO ALL NO ONE IS TO SIT INSIDE THIS HOUSE.

Re: outside party- wording question
You could go cute:
"Bathrooms are in here, Fun is out there" (although people may miss your point), but keep the AC and lights off.
or, go hard core and lock the doors ( if you aren't going to be in & out too much) and have a sign that says " see A or B for keys if you need the facilities. If people ask, just say you aren't comfortable leaving the doors unlocked since you will be up & down the block.

It's a block party. There is a DJ outside and blow up castles and stuff, yet people are sitting inside while we are all outside... So yeah, I can make them stay outside since that's the whole point!!!

Yep, 3 6 ft tables and our patio table with canopy tents covering all. Plus another table with food, chips and all beer and everything outside in coolers

outside party- wording question
Sheesh, tough crowd. It's a block party. Unless it's sweltering hot, I would find it rude on the part of the guests to stay inside. That's like going to a dinner party and a few people hanging by themselves in a bathroom.
OP, the sign idea is cute.

So why are you asking? Lock your doors and get a port a potty if you feel so strongly about your friends and family not being in your house.

I was thinking this. Did you have things outside? Usually all the food and everything is outside so I can't imagine being inside.

Re: outside party- wording question
People flock to wear the food and drinks are. Just put it all outside.
Or, open a can of tuna and leave it on the counter. The smell will keep them out.
