Our mud room solution
Our life & home are very influenced by our pets. I have several outdoor pets that require care several times a day as well as a dog & an indoor/outdoor cat.
Our house does not have a mudroom and the layout does not lend itself to making a true mudroom.
Our back door is in our kitchen & it is the door I use to tend the animals.
We had a small pottery barn type bench with cubbies but I found I never sit down to put on my shoes so DH built this instead. It has shelves for dog leashes, flashlights, gloves, etc, a shelf with an outlet for charging phones and devices, a built in doggy/cat door and hooks for jackets, hats & scarves. We also added a small mat (we were using a boot tray but it took up too much space) for wet/dirty shoes but the shelves could also accomodate shoes.
I know the mud room/shoe storage conversation comes up every once in a while so I thought I'd share our solution.
