Organizing recipes...

How do you organize yours? I feel like I have an overflow of recipes now, and no method to my madness! Also, favorite recipes from cookbooks, do you reference them anywhere else so you can find them again? Or do you just remember which book which recipe is in?

Re: Organizing recipes...

I also have a binder with tabs. As for cook books I just use the index and search but I generally recall which cook book has which recipe. Sometimes I will do an on line search for a recipe too.

Re: Organizing recipes...

I have the binder system also.

Starters, vegetables, chicken, beef, other meat, pasta, breakfast, drinks

Now dessert has it's own binder since the first one got too big.

I leave a post-it note hanging out of cookbooks that have a recipe I use often. I also write in the cookbooks if I change anything or leave anything out.

I recently also put everything into one of those binders with tabs. There are lines to write, but instead I took all of my recipes (I had a million on paper that I had written, printed, etc.) and glued them onto the pages. It has made my life so much easier, I love it!

Re: Organizing recipes...

Ok So I have a recipe obsession..I mean no joke...I collect millions of them.

Whats worked best for me is Photo albums. I get the ones with the pull up pages with the sticky backs....I use binder like dividers to label sections...appetizers, chicken, desserts ..etc....and put the recipes in the book , a few on a page, one on a page etc.

I have a bunch of photo albums full .

I keep folders labeled soups, appetizers, etc and when I find a recipe in a mag or online etc, I put it in the folder and then transfer to the book when I have time.
