Ordered our bedroom set (w/pic) - need help!

We just ordered our bedroom set which is very simple & very modern-I love it!!.

We want to paint our bedroom with a bold color like chocolate (I love colors)with possible 2 accent walls in a lighter shade like taupe...

Do you think the room will be too dark (too brown) since the furniture is dark?? Should I paint the room a lighter color?? what are your opinions?

TIA!!

I would stay away from the chocolate color and just do it all a taupe i think that would look great.

I don't really consider chocolate "bold" - it is a dark neutral. I also think your furniture might get lost in the color. If you want bold I would pull an accent color and use that as your bold wall.

I do love the grey in the pic...but I'm on a "grey kick" right now.

What about an aqua color since your furniture looks "chocolate"? I love that combo. You could do bedding or pillows to tie in the wall color and furniture.

I wouldnt do chocolate or a dark brown color because I think it would blend with your furniture too much.

Id do a taupe or a beige. Maybe you could do one dark red accent wall.

I like the red accent wall, also. Great bedroom set though, where did you find it?

I was recently at a color seminar- (part of my job)

and if you realy want to be ahead of trend- the new look is going to be chocolate and fushia or purple rather then the chocolate and blue that is popular now

it looked great together

Thank you ladies for the great ideas!!! I guess I will pick few colors and work with them (most likely something light)...I will pics as soon as we are done...

Natasa - We ordered it from a store in Los Angeles. The set is made in Spain.

first I have to tell you - WOW! that is gorgeous furniture! but how does the person who sleeps on the left side get out of bed? Chat Icon what are those squares on that side?

since the color of the furniture is dark brown, I would stay away from any of the browns. how about a pale turquoise if you want to go bold? IMO, brown & turq look so beautiful together! Or maybe just do 1 wall in turq

oh my god - it's a good thing that we painted during the blue phase, because i think that i might get kicked out of my house if suggested we paint our bedroom purple or fuchsia!!

I agree with Colleen - I think a grey would look good and give you the look you are going for. Your furniture will get lost if you paint it chocolate.....

Another color that might look nice is a burnt orange color.

Thank you!

It is a walk on platform bed so you simply walk on it and get up I guess...I will let you know once it is delivered...

The squares are lights....like a build in night lamp...you walk on those as well...

As far as colors I was thinking Tiffany blue but is that out as of right now?

wow! those are lights? that is so different! I love it!! Chat Icon

I think Tiffany blue w/that color furniture would look amazing!!!!!! and who cares if it's "out". my DH loves that color combo and wants it in our bedroom - assuming we ever buy a house Chat Icon

ETA: I read this a long time ago that blue is the best color for a bedroom b/c it's calming. I happen to agree w/that. I would never do red in a bedroom, it's just not a soothing color. pale yellow is nice in a bedroom too IMO.

I completely agree, it would just look so dark.

I like the idea of something light also.
I like red & brown, but I had a red bedroom & I really think the paint color made me restless.
I really love blue & brown too.
I've also seen brown & green that looks great.
Try the WestElm.com site, they have very modern stuff & great coor combos.
Also Smith&Noble.com has really stylish fabrics that might give you color ideas.

Maybe I'm alone here - but I love the idea of a chocolate wall. I don't think the furninture will get lost because thats how they have it in the picture.

Personally - I'm tired of the chocolate and blue combo. Its nice... but its everywhere.

I'd go chocolate - you can always change it.
