Re: Oprah...

right there with ya! I stopped watching Oprah for this very reason. Not sure when it came to be that she's an authority on every subject. I've seen her speak on topics when she clearly has no understanding of the issue. Not only that, i find her extremely opinionated and judgemental of many of her guests. I do have to say though, that I admire her for the charity work she does.

she had a pannel and did very little talking about the subject-

Dear Oprah,
You have no right speaking on the subject of what it's like to be a SAHM or a working mom because you are neither.

However, what she DID say, she phrased as if she's been there and done that, when, infact, she has not.

oh she references Gail, makes me so mad...and feel like she makes it up.
Like whenever she wants to seem like she knows about a subject where it's OBVIOUS she doesn't (like children or marriage) she throws to a "gail story"Chat Icon

Re: Oprah...

It's the statements like, "The hardest job in the world is being a SAHM, " and other such statements that imply that she KNOWS what it's like. That's a statement that even I wouldn't make and I AM a mother. I've never been a SAHM, so I cannot comment on that. That's like me saying, being a doctor is the hardest job in the world. How do I know? I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever been.
And it wasn't just that statement, that's the only one I can think of off the top of my head. She phrases things so that she sounds as if she's been there and done that when she hasn't been.
She's also made many comments about raising children on MANY of her shows.
Parenting is truly an experience you should not be giving advice on if you are not a parent. I'm sorry, flame me if you want, but do NOT tell me about parenting if you have no children. She's so famous for that.

In the back of my head I think Oprah played a very big part in Gail's divorce....

Could you imagine the phone ringing EVERY night and it being OPRAH on the other end? EVERY NIGHT...must be hard to compete with. The husband probably had enough.

I agree, I didnt get that from her at all. and she always has experts, "actual moms" in this case Chat Icon to speak the truth. and I think she speaks of being a mom as the hardest job on earth, because she's trying to say she admires us (maybe Im just naive Chat Icon ) and even in her power, her job cant compare Chat Icon

now what annoys me is SuperNanny Joe trying to make parenting and disciplining look like a piece of cake, yet she walks out the door after her few days, and she has no kids ! Chat Icon
