OPK ?; UPDATED w/ question
So I think I got my surge (I'm quite excited since it's my first month using OPKs and they seem quite handy dandy). Anyway, my question is, once you get your surge, do you test again the next day to be sure ? Thanks!

Re: OPK ?
I wouldnt. There is no need to. Your surge can be gone as you ovulate.

Re: OPK ?
They say you don't have to but I usually do. My surge usually shows for 2-3 days, which is not very common, I think. Time for you to get off of LIF and get busy!

Re: OPK ?
I did, but didn't need to. My surge only lasted a few hours. I've hear of some people getting surges for a few days. I guess just make sure you bd until you know for sure you ovulated. then the day after. then once more for good luck! Have fun!

Re: OPK ?
I would just stop testing, however, after plugging in my info to two different pregnancy websites, they said my conception date was two days after ovulation so keep going for at LEAST two days!!! to you!!!!

Re: OPK ?
Is it darker then the control? Once it is darker I stop and within about 12 hours I have ovulation cramps.

Re: OPK ?
UGH, is it possible to ovulate the day you get your surge?
We BD day 8, 11, 13 - and I'm on 14, so we'll keep going but I got a darker line yesterday. According to my chart, I think I already O'd. Yesterday my tip dipped from 97.5 to 97.2, and today up to 97.8.
What do you think? Thanks!

Re: OPK ?; UPDATED w/ question

Once you get the surge, that's it - I wouldn't test again.

If you've read Taking charge of your Fertility she say s that some people's temps will dip on the day of O-if your does, its just another sign you can interpret. Your final temps did not go up .4 degrees though.

Re: OPK ?; UPDATED w/ question
Sorry for the confusion. I went from 97.2 to 97.8 - that's more than .4, correct?

Yep! That was my confusion-I missed it. So in the future you should look for that dip because it signifies O

Re: OPK ?; UPDATED w/ question
So that dip was yesterday, the same day I got a surge. My question is - is it common to get a surge on the day you O, instead of beforehand (I started OPKs on Saturday and yesterday was my surge). thanks - sorry for all the questions!!

Yes you can! Once you get the surge, meaning the test detected the luteinizing hormone that tells your ovaries to start releasing that ripened egg.
You can O as little as 12 hours after you get the surge.
Typically once you get the surge you should expect to o within 12-36 hours.

Re: OPK ?; UPDATED w/ question
i tested for a few days in a row for one cycle - didn't make a difference. once you see your surge you know that O is 12-36 hours away.
i believe i always Od the day after the surge, but it's def possible to O that day.

Re: OPK ?; UPDATED w/ question
If I got a temp drop in the morning, and surge when I tested at 5:30PM, then BD'd when I got home from work about 10PM, do you think I missed it?

i think there's an excellent chance you didn't miss it. don't forget, even after it is released the egg sticks around for a while. also, there may have already been sperm sitting around from the other days that you BDd, waiting for the egg to drop!

Re: OPK ?; UPDATED w/ question
What I did was I went by my fertile dates on babycenter.com and BD when they said to for the first 2 days, then I bought a dollar tree OPK and the line was slightly lighter but almost the same so I figured the surge had passed. Luckily I had BD the day before and I did again that night and thats the month I got my BFP!
