OPK - please help!!
Normally, I have a 36-38 day cycle, so it's a long wait each month. I took an OPK Sat & it came out w/ one line. Yesterday & today, two lines showed up, but one line lighter than the other (the wrong line was darker, so it's not a positive). So what does that mean? Am I not ovulating this month? Or am I getting closer? I am on CD 18 or 19 - I am not sure because the first day of aunt flo was just light spotting - so I'm unsure of that would count as day one. If it does, I'm on day 19. Any ideas, sooo upset right now!!

I read that some people think the line gets progressively darker as they get closer to ovulating, but it hasn't been proven. I don't think you missed it yet. You probably have a few more days until you O. Are you temping or checking your CM? It's best to have all three align then you'll know for sure. If your LP is about 14 days, then as long as your regular you probably won't O until CD 22 or 24 and you should get your surge anywhere between 12 and 48 hours before then. If you have fertile CM you may as well get it on for good measure although I really don't think you missed it this month. Good luck and keep us posted!

I actually bought the cbe monitor. i think it takes all the guessing out of when you are ovulation. its a little pricey, but you might want to try it if you are so irregular.

I had thought of it this weekend - DH thinks I should just try a few more times w/ the sticks. YIKES...so frustrating this TTC!!

this was my first time with the opk but i tested for 3 days and like you day one nothing day 2 wrong line was dark but day three the other line was dark and i figured i was ovulating! good luck test tomorrow!

I have a 31 Day Cycle and surge on Day 18.
Textboook speaking you should be surging 14 days prior to your last day of your cycle
So you may not see a surge until cd 21,22 or 23 or so. It will be as dark or darker when your surging. You will know when you see it and will be like "oh, that's what they mean!"

Thanks...hoping to get a surge today or tomorrow - I think today is day 19 or 20 (again, not sure if the spotting counts as day 1 of my cycle or not).

i'm confused. if you did get 2 lines was one of the lines the same color as the test line? what time of day did you test? did you drink alot of fluids beforehand - that could dilute the result?

The test line was slightly lighter; same color, but lighter - two days in a row. I do drink a lot of water during the day; however, I had stopped by 3pm & took the test about 6:15 or so. Maybe today I'll cut off the drinking after lunch. We BD'd last night just in case b/c we've been doing the every other day thing...

i would DEF keep bd'ing.... it prob depends on the brand. if here is a second line there - its detecting something and i'm guessing maybe the water is diluting it... they say you should hold it for 4 hours?

I still think you're too early. Assuming you have a 36 day cycle, you won't O until about day 22. If it's 38 days then it would be around day 24. Give it a few more days, and try to stop drinking about 4 hours before you test, if you can.

Thanks all - just wondering, I read that you cannot count day 1 of your cycle if you're just spotting. I just started spotting on 1/25, AF came full force on 1/26. If the 25th does not count, then I am only on day 20, which means there is hope...still getting the two lines, one lighter - but the wrong one lighter. I cut back on water today....just frustrating.

OK, so I'm still getting two lines at day 22 (or 23), but the test line is still lightly lighter. Shouldn't I be getting a positive by now? Even if my cycle was 38 days, figure I'd ovulate by day 24, so I should see the positive since it's within 24-48 hours, right? I'm seeing the whitish CM (sorry TMI) & have been seeing it for 3 days now. So I'm trying to think positive that I'm ovulating, but this test is killing me!! We're still BD-ing every other night...also not sure if day one was the day that I started spotting (it was around 5pm) or the next day where AF came full force.

i use the CBEFM and they count day 1 as the first full day of flow, not spotting. Is your CM stretchy?

Yes....I'm going to test again later today...it is day 23, going by what you are saying. I'm down to my last OPK, so hoping for the positive Thanks.
