One year old blood draw.. Finger or arm?
I have to take my DD for her 1 yr old blood test. Is this a finger prick or actually from the vein in the arm? My MIL said her other grandkids got theirs with a finger prick at the doctor's office. But, from what my ped said I am expecting a regular arm blood draw. I just don't know how I am going to get DD to sit through this without being traumatized (me mostly).

One year old blood draw.. Finger or arm?
We just had DD's 1 year appointment and they did a finger prick. From what I understand, some offices still require a blood draw (from the arm) instead. I had to get DD's blood drawn anyway for allergy testing and had a rough time. Labcorp where I normally go wasn't able to get it done so after two tries I went to Good Sam Hospital and they were great. Honestly DD cried just as much if not more when they did the finger prick.

My ped sent me to Quest Labs to have it done. It was an arm draw. I brought DH with me so he can put DS on his lap and hold down his arm bc there was no way I would be able to do it by myself. DS screamed his little head off and shortly after he was his smiley self again. Me on the other hand needed a few hours to calm down Good luck!

Exactly this. I made DH hold DS too But it was over really fast and DS was fine.

For us it was arm. We went to labcorp. I thought they would scream so I brought my mom with me and instead my weirdo kids smiled and said thank you!

Re: One year old blood draw.. Finger or arm?
We did the finger stick for the one year and it isn't easy.. They need a good amount of blood and it took 4 nurses and myself to hold him down!!! For his 2 year visit, I asked to go to the lab and he cried for about 45 seconds and then he was fine... For the finger stick he screamed for 20 minutes and then it was impossible to finish is well check.. It is actually easier to do it at the lab IMO..

One year old blood draw.. Finger or arm?
My DD just had here done. We went to Quest and it was from her arm. She did totally fine. I think she cries more when she gets shots. It literally took 30 seconds and she walked out of the lab smiling and saying Bye!!

Re: One year old blood draw.. Finger or arm?
My DS has had both done and I prefer the arm!! When he had the finger prick, he was flipping out, and it took forever for her to squeeze enough out from his finger. The arm was so much easier & much quicker!!

Re: One year old blood draw.. Finger or arm?
All 3 of my children had blood drawn from their arm. I was very lucky for all 3 - it was quick, easy and we had no tears (except for my DD, but they stopped instantly once we walked out!).

We just had blood drawn through her arm. She shockingly did not even care what was being done to her!

Arm draw. We went to Quest labs, the tech was so great DS didn't even feel the needle go in. She had him laughing & distracted the whole time.

They did it in the arm at Lab Corp. She didn't even flinch.

Ditto! I was so anxious about it, actually put it off for a while, and it was a breeze.
