I do, and I'm using the instead cups this month - but you don't have to.

I asked this question a while back and many of the pregnant women said they went to the bathroom right after BDing and obviously it wasn't a problem for them.

Re: Once you finish "the deed"...

In prior months, I layed with my hips up on a pillow for 10 minutes. This month when I got my BFP, I went to the bathroom right away after. I had the "f- it, I have to pee" attitude, and it worked. Chat Icon

I do lie in bed, but am not so sure it is necessary. It does get uncomfortable sometimes for me too . . .Chat Icon

Re: Once you finish "the deed"...

I usually get up after a few minutes.

We only BD once the time I actually got my BFP. On that night, I fell asleep so DH's sperm had all night to swim. I don't know if this contributed to my BFP.

Re: Once you finish "the deed"...

Its not necessary at all. What needs to get up there gets up there at the moment of um, release. Anything that comes out when you get up is just "leftovers' that wouldn't make it anyway.

You don't have to lay there afterwards. I always peed after we BDed because I didn't want to run the risk of getting a UTI and I'm now 29 weeks pregnant (so I guess it still worked). His swimmers will get where they are going. The other "stuff" that comes out later is not the "good stuff." Good luck!

Re: Once you finish "the deed"...

I think that the notion of lying there for a while is the equivalent of jumping up and down after to avoid getting pregnant.

Do what makes you feel comfortable.

You don't have to but I will say that when I had my IUI the RE had me lie on the table for 15 minutes with my knees bent and my hips elevated. It doesn't guarantee anything but it also can't hurt. Chat Icon

Re: Once you finish "the deed"...

I lay back and relax for about 10 minutes. I try. Any little bit I can do.
I can't stay there too long with my legs up or anything because I get UTIs. So I have to pee and clean up right away.

Re: Once you finish "the deed"...

I don't think you need to lay there afterwards...whatever is supposed to "Up there" has already gotten there and you getting up is not going to change that.
