On average how much does a cruise out of NY cost?
Looking for a cruise that goes somewhere warm, bahamas, turks...not Canada or Boston/Maine. Probably will be during the summer months. What is the price range? Trying to find somewhere fun to go with a 1 year old.

summer is high season for cruises from ny so it will be more expensive than spring or fall ... summer is also during hurricane season and be aware that cruises can be rerouted (even to canada when you thought you were going south) ... most cruises to the caribbean are 8 or 9 nights (more nights = more $$) ... cruises to FL / bahamas are usually 7 days ... if you're concerned about price, you could take take a cruise to bermuda - those are usually 5 days or so ...
as for your price question - i went to bermuda last april and paid about $1,100 for a balcony on a 5 day cruise (for 2 adults) ... we went to the caribbean on princess (9 nights) in may a couple of years ago, i think, and that cost about $2,600 for us ...

I was recently looking at a 7 night cruise to Bermuda it was about $1100 per person (that was for July). Prices can vary a bit depending on the cruiseline, inside/outside/balcony cabin, etc. The prices are cheaper when school is still in session, so if you can go in June you should be able to get a better deal.

Check out the website vacationstogo.com They have good deals for cruises plus you can do a broad search for June-Auguest to compare prices. I would sugguest trying for June or July so you have better odds of avoiding hurricanes.

I dont know which cruise line you are looking at - but the last I knew of (a friend on LIF actually) - cruised last year with her 10 month old - RCCL wanted a full 3rd person fare for him. You have to check - she ended up taking Norweigan Cruise Line out of NY or NJ - they only charged for the port taxes for the baby.

We went on Carnival out of NY to the Eastern Caribbean this past September and thought the price was very reasonable. Unfortunately you have to be careful b/c of hurricane season which is why the prices, specifically in September/October are cheaper. We lucked out and sailed in between hurricanes!
ETA: It was about $1300 for the 2 of us in an inside room on an 8 day cruise

We went on NCL Dawn last year to Bermuda, 7 days. For 4 (2 adults, 2 children) it was $3,500.

I totally agree with this! My family is cruising this March on the new Oasis (royal Caribbean) and when we went to book 2 adults and a 8 month old...they wanted to charge me the same price for her...$1300.00!!! I could not believe it! I opted not to go...out of principal! We booked the new Norwegian Epic for January 2012 for hubby's 40th birthday and all we are paying for our daughter is port and tax! Make sure you check...I don't think Carnival charges full fares for infants either...and I know Disney doesn't...just depends on the age!

It depends on what kind of room and what time of the year.
We are cruising in the spring out of NY and it is $1250 per person for the 4 of us if you average it out.
