agreed! but if you look at say pages 2-5, on this board - there are lots of good posts with no replies. I suspect that is partially because they get pushed back so quickly by other things.

I agree. I posted about COD oil deliver and it was off of page one in no time because so many houses for sale were posted. I bookmarked it but I doubt I got one reply because I don't think many homeowners saw it. I'm sure others had similar posts but I never saw them.
I always try to help people on this board when ever I can considering I have done a lot of work to my home in a short amount of time and appreciate hearing and seeing what they have done. Even those of you "looking" can benefit from those posts by bookmarking them for when you need them.
Lately, this board has turned into one neverending debate over the prices and conditions of homes on LI with the same people comparing new construction in another state to houses here. It's apples and oranges, and really a mute point, because location is the number one component of real estate.
I love talking houses but this is not MLSLI.

well - your oil post did get 47 views, just as much as some of the other topics yesterday - so did you try posting it on NFR?
and - considering that the housing market has been in the news everyday this week- of course there are going to be discussions on it.
and oos homes- a lot of people here are oos, so thats relevant too!
eta: how about if you are going to post a MLS link - lets keep it going on one thread! Someone can start it, and if you have something to add - add it to the same one - we can call it "MLS Thread of the Day" or something, so we know multiple homes are on it!)

It's fine that people who are OOS post here. They are more than welcome It's just the neverending, neverchanging debate. A new construction home in Texas is $200K because of it's location... land is a lot more plentiful in Texas, the builders do not have union workers etc. To expect the same or close on LI, no matter how much of a downturn the market experiences, is completely unrealistic... this is an island with limited possibilities for suburban sprawl, located within communiting distance of NYC... the land is worth infinitely more therefore, the houses, in every condition, are worth more. To constantly complain about it will get the complainer nowhere.
I too, enjoy reading and hearing about the market in the news... I teach college Economics. I've owned a few homes in the last decade as I used to be a partial investor in flips. Since I've been in "the game" so to speak, I've always accepted the market for where it is, location and price.
I know I'm not the only one on here who is a bit tired of the constant, yes, nearly daily, illogical argument that ensues comparing different markets around the country to LI.
Like with every market, it's either accept the climate of the market or search in another market.

( other then your own homes you are trying to sell)

Actually this is funny, because I FM'ed Ron about this before I even saw this thread. I asked him if we could have a separate real estate board.
I agree that I come on here to get information for home improvements and decoration and you have to weave through all the complaints about prices and listings of homes.
Maybe if more than one person asks, then it will happen!

on the flipside, us potential buyers are just as insulted that people ask for astronomical amounts for a home that is DISGUSTING. i dont mean outdated - i mean pick up the beer bottles and use your vacuum!

Me too, the thought never even crossed my mind that that person was working for someone!! Although I did think the home listings were getting out of hand, I can do my own searches, thanks.
I don't have a home yet, so I come one here to chat and get information about the different aspects of looking for and buying a home, but I don't really want to see all the listings either -like I said above, I can search on my own.
