Sayid 'lost' Nadia back in Iraq before he the flight crashed on the island.. they were not married..
I think once he came back from the island (since he is one of the Oceanic 6) that he found Nadia and finally married her..
but that very shortly aftwards, she was killed..
Hence his reason for revenge, killing her killer and wanting to work with Ben. he feels he has nothing left , so he's going to take everyone down..
Personally, I think Ben killed Nadia to set in motion these exact chain of events. Did you see that smile when Sayid agreed to work with him.
ITA... he's like a puppet master.
I think I read something a while back that Ben was only supposed to be on the show for a few episodes. I'm glad that wasn't the case. The guy playing Ben is IMO amazing! Even when he's trying to be "nice" he's still so creepy!
