Ok, so maybe I don't hate Verizon...
but I love my dh for fixing the computer.
He went to a computer store today and bought more ram for the computer. After installing it in our computer, he did the speed test and BAM!! Full speed for the download and upload!
YIPPEE!!!

Keep in mind, the internet is only as fast as the person you dealing with can handle.
The speeds they test are internal network speeds...
Q? How much did Ram did you have prior?

Q? How much did Ram did you have prior?
I believe we had 2 gigs and now we have 4.
We tested on speakeasy.net and speedtest.net and got the same results
20,000 mbps and 4500 mbps.

4 gigs of ram retail is alot of money..you could of gotten it probally for a fraction online...
Did you install more memory or replace the exsiting memory?
You may of had a faulty ram chip. 2 gigs is plenty for windows xp. Its ok for vista.
You didn't reply to your orginal post so i don't know the specfics of your situation but i'm glad you are happy with your speeds...

We added more ram to the memory that was originally there. Now the computer is lightning fast!!
Pretty much what was going on was that Verizon was telling us that there is something wrong with our network card and we needed to contact Dell to send us a new computer. We were getting the speed throught the Verizon guy's laptop, but not to our computer. I don't know what made Dh think of doing that...but now it's working.
