I hate writing...maybe you can help?

OK so my BIL (sisters hubby) is turning 40. My sister has been with him for 10 years (since i was 13 ) and married for 5. They have two DS - 3 and 21 months. DH and I are godparents of the 21 month old.

My sister sent an email out to everyone saying she is making my BIL a scrapbook for his bday and would like everyone to write a letter of the impact he has had on your life, fondest memories, etc.

So this was "due" 2 weeks ago and I haven't even started yet. I feel like I am back in High School trying to write a paper....I just don't know where to even begin.

Any help is always appreciated!!

How about starting...well at the beginning!! You can write about what your first impression was of him when he first started dating your sister and how it may or may not have changed over the years. You can say how you felt at their wedding when he officially became a member of your family.

Just start jotting down notes, then you'll hit something and just go on a roll!! Good luck and have fun with it!!!

I would keep it short and sweet - kinda like a wedding speech. If you're funny, be funny; if it's too forced, then sentimental is nice too. You could sum up your first impression & compare it to how you think of him now, or comment on the impact he's made on your sister's life, or talk about a particular memorable time you all had together & say you're looking forward to many more...

I am also a big fan of quotes.
Maybe start with a quote?

I agree, keep it short and sweet. Write it like you are talking so that is flows....

If you need any help I would be more than happy to look it over.. If you dont feel like your sentences are flowing start out with a good quote/funny anecdote and then do something with bullet points like

Remember when....

1. I caught you you and my sister making out etc...
