Ok let me try this again....
What kind of carpet do you have in your den/living room especially if you have a toddler? And please add the color thanks

We used Mohawk carpeting. The Smartstrand line. It's corn-based, and the way it's manufactured, and the material used makes it inherently stain-proof. No need for Scotch-Guard or any other surface protectant. The entire carpet is automatically and always stain-proof.
In our L/R, we have a light tan color, and all of the upstairs rooms have a light grey.
We've had it 3 years, and no stains, even under where our kitchen table temporarily is, with 3 years of dropping food on it. It cleans right up. DD dropped a hot dog with ketchup on the carpet last night. With a little water and a towel, you can't tell anything happened....
