Re: Ok, fess up!! Did you...

I did this last night, but I'm not sure if I'm going to leave it that way. We went to the grocery store and Nate was screaming so loud. He just hates being in the car seat and makes all trips unbearable with his crying. He was actually really quite during the ride and amazed after I turned him forward.

He's 11 months today and already reached the height/weight requirement.

Yes, I did at 11.5 months. Lauren was way tooo long to be kept rear facing.

We did, but he was already past the weight and height requirement, just not the age.

Re: Ok, fess up!! Did you...

I did it a week before his 1st birthday. He had already reached the weight and height requirements, but needed to also be one. I can't believe I held out that long because he would fight us so much getting into the seat, but once we turned it around he enjoyed it a lot more. I figured one week early wasn't that big of a deal.

No, I actually waited until he was 13-14 months, and I had a tall one too. I just felt safer that way and he seemed happy.

I did with Joseph because he reached the height requirement & his feet were hitting the seat in front. My pediatrician checked him out beforehand. They also need a certain amount of neck control before going forward.

Maddie was pretty average. So she was right on track for it.

I'm going by the more conservative recommendations and keeping her rear facing as long as possible. She is already over 30 inches, 21 pounds, and 13 months. I imagine we won't turn her until after her second birthday. The risk of serious injury is so much lower, and she never sits with her legs straight out anyhow.

I did before the weight recommendation....but he was well over the 26 inches....his legs were all squished up against teh backseat in the rear facing car seat.

I have a big boy but waited as well - it wasn't worth the risk for me. I meant to do it a couple weeks after his birthday but probably didn't get around to it until he was 13 months. I actually read some research that made me even think twice about doing it then too.

The time hasn't come for this yet but I have no plans of turning her around early. I want to keep her rear facing as long as possible because it is not worth the risk for me. I would not be able to live with myself if god forbid we got into an accent and she got hurt because I took it upon myself to turn her around before it was recommended.
When we got our car seat checked they kept saying 20lbs and 1 year no matter what over and over again and that was the minimum, the longer they are rear facing the better.
