Oh no! The dreaded coxsackie
My 12 month old has it. Started yesterday with a low fever then got worse. He wasn't eating as much. Took him to the Ped and he said it's the second worse case he saw. Ugh!
My toddler got it twice a while ago.
Remind me what i have to look forward to and how long yours lasted with LO?
Last night was a nightmare. He was up crying. I did Advil and Tylenol per the Ped. Some times he didn't want the meds and spit it out. He spent most of today sleeping and whining. After the doc appt he slept a lot then had some soup and juice.
Anything else i should know?
Trying to keep my toddler far away and hope it's a strain he's already had.

Oh man! I'm sorry. DD is just starting to get better. She started by waking up with a fever on Friday morning. It got really bad Saturday night. She was up every 30 minutes at night screaming. I didn't sleep for 3 nights! I hope yours isn't as bad. Last night our sleep was interrupted but soooooo much better!!! I never knew this virus could be sooo bad. Hope your LO feels better soon!
ETA- All my DD would eat was pasta. I overcooked it so it was very soft and she ate it cold. Just an idea if your DC has the ulcers in their mouth and won't eat! And she would sip water only if it was cold and out of a regular cup or water bottle, the straw hurt her mouth.

Oh no!!!! My dd had it in June! It was horrible! Her fever was 104 for two days and than the rash came and it was terrible! She was covered her feet and legs were the worst. Besides Motrin and Tylenol there isn't much you can do. I let her have ice cream and ice pops because she wouldn't eat anything else. After 5 days she was acting normal but the rash stuck around for 8 days. Hope your lo feels better really soon!!

Ice cream, ice pops, anything cold.. Try Feverall Suppositories. They make them for infants and toddlers. When my on had omething viral a few weeks ago, he wouldn't take any med by mouth so I used those. They helped..

Thanks for all the replies!
He was ok tonight. Oh, and yes... I did notice he did better with a sippy then straw. Good to know.
He had soup with some noodles tonight for dinner and juice.
I'll keep with that and the ice pops. Sometimes he's ok with it then other times he won't take anything.
Day 2 with it and now onto the night. Wish me luck. He's been sleeping since 6 and it's 8 now. Hopefully it lasts so I can get some sleep.

My son got it twice in one month! He had a 104 the second time for three days! Just keep them hydrated and give them meds every 6 hrs. Hang in there it comes quick and goes quick!

My kids just had it last week. Milder case, but last year they had it very bad twice.
They pretty much only ate ice pops. maybe someone else on here knows but i remember mixing something to help coat and numb their mouths. I want to say it was 1/2 teaspoon benadryl and 1/2 teaspoon mylanta.

My son got it in the middle of a cruise- one night of bad fever- about 3 nights of misery.. good thing it was a 8 day cruise!

I fed DD purees when she had it because I wanted to get real food in her.
She had it pretty bad...high fever for 10 days...it got as high as 106 and every day we were at the ped, PM pediatrics or the ER

My DD had it recently. She had the fever and just whined, slept, and wanted to be held.
She ate yogurt, PB&J, and pancakes. Her favorite softest foods.
Hope he feels better soon.

dd had it the end of june. she was sick for about a week, but the worst of it was the first 3 days i'd say. hang in there !

taking my DS to the dr at 330 today to get him checked for it. he had a fever the past few days and yesterday broke out in little red dots everywhere. the dr said on the phone she thinks it was coxsackie and to bring him in to be sure

Ds just got over it! My DH and I both ended up getting bad sore throats a few days later
I was able to get him to eat cold watermelon, froze blueberries and grapes. Made hardboiled eggs the night before and put them in refrig so they were cold by morning. Juice bothered his throat so we did Italian ices and ice pops, pudding, jello, rice pudding, etc
After a few days he ate pastina too
Good luck, it sucks!!!!

Wash hands, wash hands, wash hands. Your toddler is just as suceptible to getting it again.
If your 12 month old is still on bottles, serve the bottle cold. As everyone said ice pops are great too.
