So the dreaded one hour glucose test is Friday!!!!!!

What can I expect? And do I have to fast?! I dread this one!!

I don't remember if I fasted (I don't think I did), but I honestly didn't find it to be bad. I have heard of people puking from the drink, but it was fine for me. Kinda tasted like flat orange soda. I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck!

I just took it on Monday, It wasn't awful. I tried to limit the sugar I had the day before, but other than that I didn't do much. I did have a string cheese in the morning before I went. The nurses in my office said I didn't need to fast, but they had less false positives with women who did fast. The drink wasn't bad at all. It was cold tasted a bit like flat orange soda. I only had a minute and a half to drink it so I just downed it. I brought a book and my iphone for some entertainment, but it went pretty quickly. I have no idea if I passed, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. I felt fine after just gobbled up a luna bar and was on my way. Good luck! It wasn't so bad.

The test (drink) was a very sugary orange soda drink. Your drink it within 5 minutes and then your one hour wait starts when you finish.

Not too bad.

I was advised by my Dr and the lab to fast 10-12 hours, but I have seen other girls state they didn't have to.

I would call and ask what your Dr recommends.

i didn't have to fast. just don't eat anything sugary beforehand.

the drink isn't too bad. but you can't eat or drink anything until after they draw your blood.

I had mine yesterday. I was told I had to fast so I did. I drank the orange stuff and then one hour later they did the blood test and I got the results immediately

I think there are a few flavors - I had lemon lime at 10w and orange at the 28w one
I was told by the lab not to eat form midnight the night before (I went first thing in the am)
I had to drink it in 5 min - no water, gum or anything else after
Bring something to read or entertain yourself cause you have to sit there for an hour after you drink until they draw the blood

I just did mine on Monday. I limited my sugars over the weekend. I didn't have to fast before the test so I had two slices of whole wheat cinnamon raisin toast because i did not want to drink that stuff on an empty stomach.

I drank the orange flavored one. It wasn't too bad, first few sips were like bug juice or an otter pop that wasn't frozen and the last few sips started to taste like cough medicine.

I had the red drink. Took it through a straw and just sucked it down fast -- it wasn't bad at all! Not peeing for a whole hour after was the harder part lol.

I fasted from about 9 pm the night before (about 12 hours) but was told I could eat breakfast if I wanted but it had to be 3 hrs before so I didn't bother. I just ate after since it was in the morning.

It really was no big deal. There are worst things to dread as far as pregnancy-related things go.

I took the one hour at 11 weeks and it wasn't terrible to drink, but I did feel sick after the hour was up. I think it was because it was all I had that morning and it upset my stomach. I think you'll do fine! Good luck!

I fasted. My dr said to fast after midnight and I had the first appointment available at Quest, 6:30ish?

I had mine last week. I don't know why people make such a big deal about the taste. It's just a very sweet. If you get the orange one, it kind of tastes like the orange tryamannic your mom gave you as a kid (which I loved the taste of). They recommend refrigerating the drink.

I didn't fast the day before, but I had very little sugar/carbs. I found out last friday that I passed! :)

Ask your dr what he/she wants you to do as far as fasting..

My OB told me to eat the morning of the glucose test...just nothing sugary or carby (no coffee either), and I had to have finished it by 7:30am-my test was at 9 and they drew blood at 10.

The morning of my test I had an egg & cheese omelette and tons of water. Finished eating by 7:15..

I passed with FLYING colors, I got an 80 (the cut-off is 130).

I feel like if you fast before you do the test, your levels will be through the roof when you have the drink bc you'll be starving....JMO though, listen to whatever your OB suggests.

I just took mine yesterday.

I had the orange drink...and I actually kind of liked it. Drank it no problem, it kind of tasted like a melted orange Popsicle.

Make sure your drink is cold!

I was allowed to eat that day, just nothing AFTER I drank the drink. I had to drink the drink an hour prior to blood draw and finish it within 3 minutes.

I was also allowed to use the bathroom within that hour if I had to, they even took my urine sample BEFORE my blood at the dr.

I don't know my results yet....but it wasn't that bad.
