Oh Man!

I put a deposit on an apartment for mom and dad and Fred. It's refundable and I thought the place would work out perfectly.

It's a complex in Holstville..
Then I get home and read some reviews online that basically say it's horrible and don't move there.

I thought it was nice.

I guess I should keep looking.

Anyone know anything about Victorian Gardens?

People didn't hold back about their reviews of the place.

Maybe it's a few disgruntled people?Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Oh Man!

I've never been in one of the apartments but they look nice and one of my sister's gf's used to live there. I am pretty sure the only reason they moved is because the price was high.

Re: Oh Man!

Can you find out anything for me? This is really important.

Yes, the place is very nice. They had a special on rent too. I got this apartment for way less than I thought it was going to be and heat and water is included.

It may have been too good to be true.

Re: Oh Man!

I wouldn't worry about it. I live in an apt complex and read bad reviews about it online. I have no problems at all.

People are more likely to post a bad review before a good one.

You're right. This was just too good to be true I think. It's not a perfect apartment but pretty close.

I will call the management on Monday and ask about every one of the complaints.

eta: Which one do you live in if you don't mind me asking? FM if you want.

maybe..this is a 2 bedroom 2 bath on the ground floor. I would love a real life testament about it. You never know about reviews online. It's also an end unit. I read a review about the sewage treatment plant and the smell. I was there today and I didn't smell anything.

It's hard to find a 2bed 2bath that's reasonable. That's why I looked at Suffolk instead of Nassau. Nassau was out of control.

I wouldn't worry about it

I read the same reviews of the 4 star hotel I stayed at for my HM- and no smell

ask me what I think about my current building- I would have nothing nice to say and it's "one of the best" in the area

so take everything with a grain of salt

I know. This is tough I'm picking out an apartment for my mom, dad and brother. It's got to be a place I would live as well.

I wish they could come out and see it but I can't keep flying my poor mother out here time after time. The flight kills her.

I put a deposit at that place when it was still being built. they only had a few buildings open. this was about 7-8 yrs ago. it's a beautiful place, I never heard anything bad about it.

the apt complex I ended up choosing was cheaper. I cancelled the check for the deposit at Victorian Gardens. it was the best $25 I ever spent. diff circumstances for me though.

put yourself on the waiting list!!

I loved Vic Gardens, gorgeous place! but it was $200 more a month than where I live now. back then I was single, so that was a lot more for 1 person to pay, for the same size apt with the same amenities.

eta: I can pop in and check on them. Chat Icon

I will. This is $200 cheaper than your complex now. They're running a Sept special on 2 bedroom apts. And, they include heat! SWEEEETT!

oh wow, then there you go!

and don't listen to the neg feedback! like someone said earlier, people are always more likely to take the time to complain than hand out a compliment.

Not in these complexes. The one Dina lives in you have to pay all utils..

A lot of the buildings in the boroughs give you heat and hot water. I would love to move them to Bayside or something but the rents are too high.

I've only found a few in these complexes that do.

This would probably be more. Bigger apt and 3 peeps living there with two home all day. Realistically it could come to double that easily.

I would love for my next and last place to have everything but cable included

yep some do but the majority don't in LI. Apartment buildings tend to pay for heat but complexes I'm finding don't always.

interesting- I have always lived in buildings

we never wanted the heat it was always hot in every building we lived it- I guess it's hard to regulate- so it's hard to charge people?

this year we turned the heat on 3 or 4 times
