October 2012 moms
Would love to know how everyone is doing. How are you adjusting to life with LO? Any advice for other oct moms of things you've learned along the way? I'd have to say being a mom is way more challenging then I expected.

October 2012 moms
Life is good now ... but i gotta say that the first two months were terrible for me even though DS was such a good baby. I just couldn't deal with the loss of personal time.
Now that DS is 4 months old, sleeping (mostly) through the nights, and actually doing things that are cute (smiling when he sees DH and me, playing with toys a little, etc) and we have a routine down, it's much much better. I still can't say i love motherhood but at least i don't hate it either
DS had a doctor's appointment yesterday - little guy weighed 20lb 5oz!!! Tthe Dr said that DS is one of the bigger babies he's ever had

We're adjusting pretty well, but he was my 4th so I lost my personal time a long time ago. Both me and DS had complications after birth that took a while to get through, but were both finally getting back to normal at 4 months. DS is 17.5 lbs and 28", my tall boy. STTN and takes 4 short 45 min naps a day. While i'm praying he starts napping longer, i'm glad hes asleep at night.

Re: October 2012 moms
Doing OK. The first few weeks were very rough, DS has nasty reflux and there was a LOT of screaming involved, but he's on medication and much better. His sleeping sucks though (he is still up an average of 3 times a night) so I can't wait until he is sleeping better. I already have a 2.5 year old, but it was definitely tough going back to having a newborn.
Did anyone start food yet? I was going to wait until 5-6 months, but now I'm thinking about starting sooner bc the ped mentioned that it might help "hold down" his feedings and maybe help the reflux, IDK.

With our reflux child we.started cereal at.3.5 months and it helped. We actually mixed oatmeal cereal with other foods until she was a year old since the reflux irritated other things in her airway.

Re: October 2012 moms
The first few months were such an adjustment! It was tough. And now being back at work is still an adjustment. I'd say right now the adjustment is more between DH and I. Since going back to work I'm not as easy going. I NEED to sleep to or get somethings done etc... where as before I didn't mind getting up at night or doing the majority of baby care. We are still learning and growing as a family.

October 2012 moms
The first couple months were so rough. DD was such a fussy baby, I felt like I could never put her down bc she just cried and cried and hardly slept at all day or night so I was soooo sleep deprived. But since. Around two months she started sleeping longer stretches at night so it's been getting better. Sometimes she'll sleep for 8 or 9 hrs without making a peep, but the past few nights she's been waking up cryin a few times a night so I'm back to feeling very tired. She only naps for about 30 min at a time. I'd love for her to start napping longer. I'm currently trying to transition her from the rnp to the crib and it's tough but making a little progress. I've gotten her to take a few naps in the crib and was thinking that since she's been waking up a lot thru the night in the rnp lately maybe I should see how the crib goes.
Her dr said we could try rice cereal mixed into baby food (puréed fruits) at four months, so we've been introducing it slowly. It seems to be constipating her though so I stopped adding the rice cereal for now and am just giving her the fruit. Some days she likes it and swallows it and some days she spits it out.
She gets to be more and more fun every day though. She smiles and laughs a lot and had been starting to grab for her toys which usually buys me a little time to get some stuff done now that she can entertain herself a little.
