OB appts question
So I was working with a RE to get pregnant, when I finally did, I got to see my little bean on sonos pretty much every week. Now that I'm graduated to see an OB, I was just wondering, how often do you see the OB and how often do you get sonos from here on out? I'll be 8.5 weeks at my 1st OB appt but just wanted to get an idea of how often after that you go back for appts/and or sonos. TIA!

Re: OB appts question
I went monthly until 30 weeks and then every 2 weeks and now at 36 weeks I go every week. I had a lot of sonos in between since I am high risk but I think you should get one at your first OB visit then 12 wks, 20 wks and again at 32 but I am not 100% sure on that since I had a sono at 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 30, 32, 34 and again at 36 weeks....I have ALOT of pictures of my Lil Man
Good Luck!!

Re: OB appts question
I also started out with an RE. I am 21 weeks and I go monthly, up until like 30-something weeks when you start to go weekly. My monthly appts are just doppler appts where the dr listens to the HB. The initial OB appt will be a sono. Then there is a big sono at 12 weeks and 20 weeks. My Dr. does another sono more towards the end when the try to determine a birth wieght. We get a little spoiled with all the RE sono's.

OB is every 4 weeks until 28 weeks... and then every 2 I believe until last month of preg... then I think its every week... Sono's vary depending on what your health insurance allows, what your doc follows etc.... So far I've had 4 sonos and im 20 weeks... It should have been 3 (8, 12, 20 weeks) but I had to go back a 2nd time for some more mesurements for the anatomy scan

Re: OB appts question
I am not high risk (just for reference). I get sent out to a facility with more high tech equipment mostly for the important sonograms like the dating scan (6 weeks), the NT scan (12 weeks), Anatomy Scan (16 & 20 weeks) and the Growth (I think 32 weeks??).
In the actual OB office - I have gotten 2 quick sonograms to check for the heartbeat at 8 weeks and then again at 12 weeks when she couldn't find the heartbeat on the doppler. She told me that I probably won't get any more sonograms in her office.

Re: OB appts question
I believe I saw my OB at 8 weeks, had a CVS at 11 weeks, saw OB at 16 weeks, sono at 20 weeks, then exam every 4 weeks after that until I was about 2 months out and it became every 2 weeks and the last month was once a week. I asked my OB for a sono and he gave me one at 30 weeks which he said they normally dont do.

Re: OB appts question
Oh and just to add, if you want a sono later on in pregnancy, make sure you ask your OB before they examine you. Once they write in your file that everything looks good, they can not change it. They have to have a reason for a sono with most insurance companies. My ob wrote that I was measuring a bit small (even though I wasn't) just so he had an excuse to do a sono.

Re: OB appts question
I go every 4 weeks from 8-32 weeks, then every 2 weeks to 36 weeks, and then every week after that until 40 weeks.
If there are no issues, I only get sonos at 8w in the office and then I have my 12 week ultrascreen and 20 week level 2 at the hospital. I had some spotting in the beginning so I went more freqently and had 3 sonos between 5 and 9 weeks.

Re: OB appts question
I got a sono at 7.5 weeks to confirm due date, 12 weeks for ultrascreen, 20 weeks for level II and I was told I wouldn't get any more unless there was a problem.
DH and I are doing an elective 3d/4d scan in less than 2 weeks though when I'm 28 weeks. Couldn't wait to see the baby again after the level 2.
And I also have monthly appts until 30 weeks. then it will be every 2 weeks until 36 weeks and then once a week after that. HTH!

Re: OB appts question
I see my little peanut at evert appt. I am not high risk or anything - my OB's office has the sono in every room and they just do it at every appt. Having only had that...I can't even imagine what an appt would entail without a sono. My OB rocks if you want a rec for somewhere you can see your LO at every appt.

I jus had a reg OB appt and basically I had weight and bp checked, and time to dicuss any concerns. I'm having a very easy pregnancy so I feel like it's so pointless to even wait around to talk to the doc!
Oh and the use the Doppler at these appts. I have one at home lol
