Nursery School: Question for my SIL

She had her son at the Rinx-it is almost $400 for 4 weeks-way topo expensive. I had heard of the Family CFA in Smithtown so she is going to call them. Does anyone have a reco. for an inexpensive pre-K in Smithtown, Nesconset or Lake Grove area? TIA

Re: Nursery School: Question for my SIL

My son went to 2 yrs. of pre-K at CFA and now, my daughter is starting there. It's a great program w/a good balance of academics and socialization. I've had alot of feedback from different parents in my neighborhood say that once their children got to the elementary school, the teachers would often comment that kids who attended CFA were more "on the ball" vs. their peers, when it came to preparedness and classroom skills. It is one of the pricier pre-K's in the area, but not as expensive as the Rinx.

There are tons of other pre-K's nearby, too. Many of them are in the basements of local churches...I have heard good things about the school at the Presbyterian Church on Rt. 25 and Rt. 111. There's also a Smithtown Co-Op nursery school on Rt. 25A in Saint James and the Wesleyan School on Rt. 25. HTH!

Re: Nursery School: Question for my SIL

CFA has a great reputation in Smithtown. Although my kids didn't attend school there, we have taken classes. Tell her to look into a co-op program, St. ANdrew's whcih is on Brooksite, right before Jericho, is suppose to be pretty good.
