Nursery School and 3 - How long did the crying last?
DD started nursery school. She will be 3 next month. Its been a few days of hysterical crying and "MOOOOOMMMY" - I can hear her from outside.
How long does it usually last. Great thing is - she wants to go to school the next day - she says she likes school and the teachers.
The teachers say it usually takes a couple of weeks for the crying to stop - how was the adjustment for your child? I know every child is different - but im just wondering......its heartbreaking.

My son cried for 2 weeks and then it stopped! One thing that we did that worked was we sent a picture of mommy and daddy with him- so he could look at it any time he wanted too!!!

Re: Nursery School and 3 - How long did the crying last?
Some children are just getting better with it, and school started in September. One child has to be taken into the other room every morning, but then they are all fine.
That probably wasnt to reassuring, but if I ended up dropping off Kaila later then normal.. any child that was crying had already stopped. It really does stop pretty soon after you walk out the door.

Re: Nursery School and 3 - How long did the crying last?
DD's started her second school experience somewhere new at 3...she was very attached in the beginning and it lasted a few months...she wouldn't scream her head off, but she would cry and run for me...
I was lucky that she had a no nonsense teacher - personally I like that approach...She would basically say "Summer, mommy has to go but you know she'll see you later...bye mommy" which was my cue to leave...she swore DD would only cry for about 2 minutes and then was fine...

With both of mine it was only about a week or so.
Every kid is different, and I know it's hard for you but the teachers expect it and are good at distracting the kids and cheering them up.
