nursery school...
My DS attends nursery school 2x per week for only 2 hrs per day. My accountant is asking me to provide a tax ID # for the school to write it off as a deduction. The school is in a church. Does anyone else do this? I feel weird about it -- doesnt seem legit.

Yes, this is common. When my children were in preschool, it was in a church, but the school itself had it's own Tax ID number. I'm sure if you ask an administrator they can help you.

Yes our school director mentioned it and they put the tax id number right in the receipt.

We received a print out from the school automatically with all of our 2015 expenses and their tax idea without even asking. I think it's standard of people write some of it off.

Re: nursery school...
the only thing I heard is you can only write it off if both parents work. don't know how true that is though. but we write off daycare and prek with our taxes but we do both work full time

Can you really write off nursery/daycare? I have been asking my accountant for years and he said we couldn't. We both work btw....

You can only write off daycare/nursery school if you work. When i stayed home I couldn't write off my sons preschool expenses.

I really hope there is a reason for that because absolutely you can. My sons daycare gives me a print out with the total for the year. Same thing with aftercare for my older one.

There is a cap and it phases out based upon income.

Same here.
