Nursery Related Question

Since we are not doing a formal nursery, I want to make Miss Bean's area pretty and girly and I will probably translate this into her regular room when we move her (even though I have a house, for various reasons, we want to keep her with us for at least 6-8 months)

I saw this on OC Housewives in Alexis's twin's nursery and want to know if this is a really dangerous idea-also my neighbor who is helping me brought it up.

We were thinking of doing a canopy with white sheer curtains around the crib, draping down, tied to each side. I would probably remove it when she is old enough to mess with them.

I don't have an exact picture of what I want to do, but here is an idea.

I am not overly paranoid, but I don't want to do something completely dangerous.

Re: Nursery Related Question

It's very pretty, but I would be scared.

Pretty but super duper dangerous Michi, don't do it!!!! By 3-4 months she's going to be rolling and reaching, and you will NOT have any notice that she's able to reach the fabric, she could pull it down, or get caught in it, or a host of other horrible possibilities. Chat Icon Similarly make sure the crib is not near fabric curtains or blinds with strings.

I figured this much. Back to the drawing board! Chat Icon It is not really worth it to do this and only use it for a month!

Re: Nursery Related Question

What if you did something similar effect that didn't hang down. Close to the ceiling where the baby could never reach. KWIM. Let me try to find a pic.

Re: Nursery Related Question

Sorry to squelch your decor dreams.

I just saw on the home board that HGTV is launching a new show that's specifically for kids rooms and nurseries, try that out for ideas too!!

Oh and you could get the same effect with say a nice ceiling medallion with fabric swooping out but attached to the ceiling, not the walls or crib!!!

Oh that is a great idea! I will have to see when the show is on!

That was my other thought-and keep the fabric out of her reach. But I have no idea how that would look!

This is on a huge scale but you could do something like this above the crib on the ceiling.

Or you could take something like this that is scary & unsafe & attach the entire thing to the ceilling. You could center it above the crib, and then bunch the draping and also attach that to celing so it doesn't hang. KWIM.
