Not to scare anyone, but you should know...
My best friend told me about a horrific encounter that her co-worker experienced. The co-worker I'll name Ann. Ann was at roosevelt field a few weeks ago and was leaving Macys from the south side (adjacent to the big parking garage and bus dropoff). As she left the store, she felt someone was behind her, and when she had the chance looked to see. There was a man in his 30's that was indeed following her. Not using her best judgement, Ann proceeded to her car. As she was fumbling for her keys, the stanger approached her and told her not to be frightened but that he wanted to offer her something. She said no thank you, and tried to get in her car. He said he wanted to give her $100 for her shoes. Finding this very odd, Ann said no because she didnt want to be barefoot. He handed her slippers and told her she could have them, but that he really wanted her shoes. He handed her the $100 bill. Freaked out she took the shoes off, took the $100, and got in her car and left.
There's so many things wrong with what she did, but I tell you this because as the holiday shopping season is now here, please please please, make sure not to leave the store until you have your keys in your hand. I was always told you can use a key as a weapon. If you feel like someone is following you, GO BACK TO THE STORE!!! Do not go to your car!! Dont hesitate to ask security to follow you to your car.
I consider this girl very lucky to have been able to get out of that situation, and even make a profit. But please ladies, be careful!!

From the details that my BF told me, she was wearing regular work heels. Nothing spectacular. She sold them just to get rid of the guy, who she believed to be a pervert.

But seriously, I'm ALWAYS more aware of my surroundings at the mall, or any big parking lot, at all times of the year. During the holidays, I don't carry my bag with me into the mall. I just put my credit card and keys in my pocket, and have my keys in hand on the way out to the car, while looking around me.
There are some sick people out there! Glad she's ok!

There was a guy arrested in Plainview, maybe 5 or 6 years ago, maybe more for doing the same thing.
Turns out he did have a foot fetish and the cops arrested him pretty quickly.
I wonder if it's the same guy
Yes, your friend should have ran back to the store but, even with training, it's so hard to predict what many people would do.
Glad she is ok. I hope they get the pervert.
Be very careful this holiday season. This is why I tend to not run errands alone.

Wow - that is creepy. Thanks for posting though because it's a good reminder with the holidays coming up.
DH has told me to carry my club key, which has a sharp point at the end, between my middle and ring finger with the point sticking out. This way the key is firmly in place when you grip your hand into a fist and you can jab the person.

OMG - my mom was at roosevelt field a few weeks ago and while she was on line a man had been bent at her feet examining them unbeknownst to my mom - the saleswoman asked her if she knew the man and my mom obviously said no - my mom was freaked out she left the mall!!
