I just got a pair from NY&Co that were about $30 or $35 because they were doing a sale...they always have sales and coupons available. So far, so good. I usually buy mine at Old Navy but lately have been kind of annoyed at the quality of them.

Zara has some jeans that are $39 and up. I love them.
Also Urban Outfitters have some starting at $49 and up.

if the zipper goes down just take a rubberband, put it through the hole of the zipper and then around the button

I LOVE NY&C jeans! They fit me really well. I just bought a pair for about $20 because they were running a big sale.
I used to wear Express but they stopped making my favorite style and I never went back. I see they now have a lot of new styles on their website, I should look into them again.

Just don't wait too long to pee or you could be in some serious trouble!
ETA:
This made me think, we spend a TON on jeans, it's absolutely ridiculous that anyone should have to put a rubber band through the zipper pull and loop it on a button for the damn zipper to stay up.
If I were you, I'd bring them back and exchange them.
FTR, I wear Lucky Brand, Gap and Old Navy jeans and I've never had a problem with the zipper but if I did, you can bet your ass I'd bring them back, regardless of how much they cost. Though I'd definitely bring back my Luckys if they did that.
Oh and I've found some pretty decent jeans in Marshall's that were really cheap.
