Norwegian cruise
Hopefully someone has traveled on one recently and won't mind answering some questions... Can you bring bottled water on board? Soda? Alcohol?
How was the cruise?
Any money saving tips?
Thanks!

Re: Norwegian cruise
I know you cannot bring Alcohol, they will confiscate it. I have in the past brought some soda and water and it hasn't been confiscated, it was in my suitcase. For the last several cruises, we book a suite, b/c the butler stocks the fridge with bottled water/soda at no charge. Our room also came with three complimentary bottle of alcohol. It makes a suite worth the money for us.

Re: Norwegian cruise
We pack water bottles in our suitcase to bring them on the ships. We also usually pack the tiny bottles of liquor so we can spike our own drinks. In the past we've brought full sized bottles in our suitcases and nothing's happened but I think that's a little hit or miss.

Re: Norwegian cruise
You defintely can't bring alcohol. I guess you could bring water in your suitcase. We just brought reusable mugs and filled them at the buffet.
Which ship are you sailing on? We have been on the Pearl and the Spirit.

Re: Norwegian cruise
Thanks for all the responses. I guess we will bring non alcoholic. Do they have any deals on alcohol? Like carnival had 6 bottles of wine for $90.

You can bring bottled water in your suitcase. Like pps said, you could probably sneak some liquor on there, too, but you have to be careful about it. They don't go through your luggage, but I believe they scan them.
ETA: They have deals on alcohol in the Duty Free shops, but you can't pick those bottles up until the last night of the cruise. I'm not sure about deals for wine/drinks.

Loved the Pearl! We took it to Alaska. The ship is huge, it's pretty new, and we had a great time. Simon, the cruise director, is awesome.

Re: Norwegian cruise
pearl is such a beautiful ship!! one of my favs!
u can not bring alcohol.. if they see it thru the xray machines they will put ur luggage in the "naughty room" its usually the library on that ship. wen everyone else gets their luggae delivered to their room, u wont. u will have to report to that room where the ships officers will be. they will ask u to open ur bags and hand over the booze.
my advice, sneak it. if u dont wanna risk it then when u get off the ship at a port, buy booze at a duty free and empty the liquor in your water bottles. thats what we do.
only thing that suuucks about NCL is that juice isnt available all day/night. its only available in the morning during breakfast. so buy stuff to mix it with.
money saving tips... hmm.. if u are going to do an excursion, do it on ur own. booking thru the cruiseline is expensive!
let me knwo what ports youre going to so i can give u more detailed advice.

Re: Norwegian cruise
We got back 2 weeks ago from the norwegian pearl. what ship are you on and where are you cruising to? Week soda card is 50 bucks. Not sure about the water. Alcohol gets checked.
LOL-I just read your OP not the one above this. we went on the same exact tour/boat....with a 4 yr old. Ship is AWESOME!!!!!! So much fun! Your kids will LOVE the water slide, bowling alley etc... They also have a rock wall but we didnt attempt. We mainly ate in indigo (second main dining room). Definately got to blue lagoons for there wings...its HUGE! We played bingo daily which was fun. The shows were great. Shark bait, sin city...cool shows!
Samana -we didnt get off bc we heard it wasnt safe. The only thing that is safe is cayo levantado and I thought to pay 65 bucks times 3 sucks to hang out on a beach with a 4 yr old that might stay for 3 hrs.
Tortola-Just grab a tour bus. It was nice. Small version of St Thomas I guess.
St Thomas-Love the shopping and the beaches. Grab a cab to go shopping. Fab deals.
We went to great stirrup cay (is that the same as you?) TBH- sucked! They are revamping it with millions of dollars but its not up to par at all. its just a beach like any beach.
All in all, we had fun! the ship itself was the best part.
FM me andy addtl ??

Re: Norwegian cruise
I just came back yesterday from the Epic cruise ship. It was awesome-you can bring soda and water, but not alcohol. You can bring wine, but they charge a high "uncorking" fee for it.
They do offer an unlimited soft drink card you can purchase if you want. Water, coffee, and iced tea is available always and juices are available I think til like 11 AM(when the breakfast is over)
The specialty restaurants are nice, but almost all of them charge a cover charge per person which can get expensive.
Have fun!
