IMO they are kinda the same.
NP village has a couple of cute places to sit and eat. Even an ice cream shop. Can't remember exact names since we just walk around in the area and pick a place.

Re: northport village
Park by the water and you can walk around the park, which is nice. There are two playgrounds that the kids can run around in and you can walk by the boats. Mainstreet Cafe is good, but small. I live in Northport and love it, but I wish it had better restaurants. Shipwreck Diner has a great breakfast (never been there for lunch, but I bet it's good) and a patio. Bitro 44 also has a nice courtyard and is kind of upscale, but there service is kind of slow. Stop by Wolfies for outragously good custard!
ETA: My friend loves the Ritz Cafe, but I have never been there. Copenhagen bakery has great cookies, etc. You can find all these places just by walking up Mainstreet -- Wolfies and the Ritz are not on Mainstreet, but if you take a right from the parking lot before you head up mainstreet you'll find them (I can't remember the name of the street).

This definitley sums it up. I LOVE Northport Village. I live about 10 mins. away from the village. It's great to walk around, shop, and eat. Shipwreck Diner we had lunch in once and it was great. I also like the Ritz Cafe as well. One of my favorite stores is Cow Harbor Trading. Fun to go in and look around. Heck, if you want some candy, that's the place to go to.

where are you coming from?
the village is kind of off 25A-there are a few roads off 25A that lead into the village.
